we can’t be sure for certain but I think so, this video series shows a pretty good theory of how things could have changed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pdpm5l4RoMg&t=2s
The richer and more advanced the country is, the stupider is its youth. It has unfortunately come to that in my homeland too.
That’s beyond me. I like to read history a lot because who doesn’t like a good story?
How for the love of God is history boring? Are these children that underdeveloped?
Unfortunatey, even if you aided Germany, you’d still lose.
If Sweden did entire WW2 on Germany’s side (Which is was considering) it would have probably done what Finland, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania and switch sides
Seeing how the first world war turned out we should be glad that we didn’t act. If we had joined the war then i’m pretty sure we would’t have had Folkhemmet or have become the world leader in industry (With the 4th largest air force at one point. I know it was after the second world war but Sweden could have been devastated if we joined Germany during the first one.)
there was however quite a large percent of the people, politicans and even the Queen who supported idea of aiding the Germans.
Yeah, it because it was following its long-standing policy of neutrality since the Napoleonic Wars.
@Kane
Sweden was actually invited to join the Central Powers during the war and we’d be rewarded with reclaiming Finland and Estonia from the russians if we accepted, resurrecting the Swedish Empire, sadly we did not.
That might be true, but the amount of people now think they know everything about history.
I know a lot and I don’t even call myself an amateur historian.
OH-HO-HO sonny, I doubt it will, it was a fucking gruesome war. They wouldn’t be able to rated decently by the ESRB if they did.
I had to lose my solitude. I don’t like this.
Edited
See it like i do, It’s a jumping off point. A lot of people will be exposed to the era who would’t have otherwise and quite a few of them will surely look into the topic now that it has peaked their interest. I’ve learned so much about Renaissance Italy from Assassin’s Creed II for example and much more from other games in other historical settings. Schools around the world are already struggling with keeping students engaged with “some boring history.” So the least we can do is give them a slice of history through a game in an approachable and engaging way.
I learned a tremendous amount about history thanks to games. In later years what was true was cemented and gameplay stuff was ironed out.
Mostly thanks to Battlefield 1942, and Destroyer Command (a sim).
We weren’t but we armed ourselves to the teeth and were ready for it. (pretty much our Cold war defense policy.)
I find this funny because Sweden wasn’t even in the war.
That doesn’t seem economically viable.
Don’t take me for a fool Andreas! I know fully well you’re not literate. Now up and over or it’s the firing squad for you!
Can i write to my congressman first?
