Lol I think you’re missing the point of my tounge in cheek comment. If spike is a gold digger (otherwise known as being smart) He’d choose ember because that is one rich Dragon babe. Rarity comes a distant second being a succesfull buinsnessmare and starlight is broke as shit no matter how nice shes is (which is debatable but nows not the time) so no dice.

I don’t know… I agree about Ember being great pick but I would still put Starlight > Rarity.
 
Starlight is a really nice pony regardless, we have seen she has one big caring heart which Twilight has been managing to bring back, her sensitiveness was the only way Twilight could beat her after all. She sure has socializing issues but that is normal when you’re a genius right? Having issues to fit in on the groups however her intentions are always great.
 
If anything just her being the most badass unicorn in magic we know of also adds points and frankly I have felt she’s very pretty all along, sure has a more unique look compared to other ponies, specially on her Mane/Tail.

Spike should totally choose ember. He’d basically be marrying into royalty after all. It’s only practical. Rarity’s nice and all but she aint no dragonlord.
 
Starlight would be a nightmare. Not only is she broke and totally bumming of Twilight, You’d never know if you’re with her because you want to be with her or if she Mindfucked you into being with her. That’s the kind of shit that’d keep you up at night in an existantial crisis.
 
Sweetie’s a klutz who can’t cook for crap. She’s adorable but that won’t pay the bills.
