Emerald listens on, but it seems the Captain and Joyride have pretty much finished speaking. The conversation dissolves into what they are going to do with the booty they take, and then they part ways to, Emerald assumes, prepare for the attack.
 
Emerald ducks away back downstairs to the kitchen. Emerald knows that Ruby is pretty much always there before meal times helping the cook.
 
Emerald sees her peeling and apples, and Emerald asks if she can speak with her quick. After pulling her out of the kitchen and into a secluded part of the storage room he tells the filly all about the pirate attack, and how it’s happening today.
 
“Cool!” Ruby says astonished, “Does that mean they are going to fire the cannons? I want to see that!”
 
Emerald tells her of Joyride’s plan to lock them up, and asks her if she can get any tools so they can break out.
 
Ruby thinks on this a second and says, “I think I can scrounge something up. Oh man, I’m excited!”
