The next day, Emerald wakes up to see that Ruby has already gotten up, and if the cot near him is any indication, Joyride never even got to bed.
Emerald stretches as he gets off his cot. Emerald thinks that later today he’ll go help Ruby out with her spelling, and then maybe practice some magic. Emerald chuckles. This voyage has barely started, and he is already starting to work into a routine.
Emerald goes up to the kitchen to get some breakfast. He sees an energetic Ruby and a none the worse for wear Joyride sitting at a table. He joins them.
Ruby passes Emerald some food, which appears to be a mash of vegetables, potatoes and fruit. It tastes funny, but not awful.
