I don’t doubt that they’re creative, but porn isn’t really my thing and I’m not familiar with their work. I meant it more along the lines of a facetious expression to how despite derpi being amazingly great at gathering horse art all in one location, of all the art that tends to garner attention here, it’s usually porn.
If whateverbender and badumsquish have taught us anything, you can certainly be creative with porn.
Then, the aforementioned improving skill thing after drawing a fuckton. :3
I hear ya and that is another thing I meant as well some people like porn some don’t it doesn’t mean you’ll be better or more popular just because you’re drawing porn.
I don’t much care how much porn is on here or how popular it is; I just want people to stop making the ludicrous claim that an image’s popularity is only marginally determined by whether it’s porn or not.
Half of them aren’t porn. Which means half of them are. Which means that porn, currently making up well under 20% of the images on this site, is disproportionately represented in the top-scoring images. Which means…
Drawings that display personality are also popular, true, which explains the high score of the grainy, low-color gif animation in your example. Though, again, the most popular personality for any character is “horny as fuck”.
But if you want a loyal and dedicated following you gotta draw something that few others draw and you have to draw it good and draw a bunch of them.
For example: Anonn and his bimbos.

Of course, there are other differences between the images that could explain the disparity in popularity: color vs. black & white, pony vs. anthropomorphic, scenery vs. blank space…
Art that works using one (or combinations of these) is way more interesting to look at than just a safe picture of a character standing around. (Atryl does a great job at cute art that tells a story, for instance.) It’s interesting plugging in “score.gte:200” to see which category or categories all the higher scoring art falls into.
It’s something I want to to strive for in my own artwork. I’ve been guilty of just having characters sitting around. It’s boring to look at. With “cute” and “funny” artwork, it usually takes a little more effort to have the piece be interesting, imho.

Porn might get more than safe on average, but meh safe will usually be higher scoring than meh porn.
As I said, artists who steadily improve get more and more with each subsequent image. ^w^
I made this cuz everyones always asking me how my art gets hundreds of upvotes. My art barely got 40 upvotes when I did SFW art, and then after I went to porn, my art just exploded.
Also man, coming from a porn artist it really helps your anatomy. Badly drawn anatomy in porn looks waaaaaay worse than safe.
