Maybe the key is smashed to pieces during the fighting. Or maybe the big bad king of the predators smashes the key in hopes of thwarting the Fighting Six.
And maybe the magic in the broken key is still enough, when the pieces are brought together and with everyone’s hearts and wills behind them, to close the door on the predators anyway.
And the thing about magic keys and magic locks is, they don’t have to stay the same shape.
