Is there any antibrony feminist whose feminism is even equal to this feminist? http://sillybitchynerd.tumblr.com/post/102774775932/to-the-sjws-and-feminists-who-hate-bronies

I think she has a lot to teach them. Though I actually wonder if anti brony feminism is inherently antifeminist, whihc is why you never see them involved in real activism or anything that might actually help people in real life, and why their not shy about attacking other woman who express the wrong oppinions

You lied to me. It brought tears to my eyes alright; bitter, angry, and entirely confused tears.

Alright, after watching that video… I just have so very many questions and I’m completely certain that there aren’t going to be any comprehensive answers to any of them xD .

I made an image that I uploaded to the ‘booru where I tried to discuss/explain Dadist art and the Dada art movement in general. I… I think that the “musical performance” I just suffered through might really qualify as such. It’s annoying to listen to, it comes off as entirely pointless, and the fact that while they’re just standing there howling randomly they also have to turn a page in their lyric sheets (as though the lyrics themselves are going to be that complicated and challenging for them to remember) is just insulting to watch.

I’ve heard actual feminist music before, music that legitimately discussed the struggles that women often endure. That’s real feminist art. What you linked me to, however? That’s just stupidity trying to be passed-off as art, which is another thing that tends to put a thorn in my lion’s paw.

Still, thanks for the link, yo. It was… enlightening, to say the least.

It’s called 2nd and 3rd wave feminism. 2nd is from when feminists were actually needed. 3rd is when they brought a sledgehammer to a clean-up job and just started wrecking everything.

@Tumblr Feminism Is A joke
The internet has that effect, yo. It allows someone, even when they aren’t anonymous, to voice their opinion without direct repercussion.

Sometimes, these opinions are incredibly hateful, even if they may have originally come from a legitimate place of earnesty. That hate snowballs out of control and, eventually, even a great concept like feminism becomes the bloated beast that we’re seeing all over Tumblr today; barely having anything to do with legitimate feminism and more centered around simply lobbing insults and various other slurs back and forth.

It’s tactless, it’s mean-spirited, it’s devaluing towards the original concept, it’s… the internet.

I support feminism. I don’t support this mess.

But right now I support having another beer. I feel like I need it.

By the way for those wondering why I removed the anit feminist tag, bronies as a whole aren’t against the kind of feminism where you try and make positive changes in the real world and promote equality.

We support the Lauren Faust kind of feminism, and like her we are against this kind of “feminism” http://pinkie-whitelloon.tumblr.com/post/92886760916/a-word-about-anti-bronies and feel anti brony “feminists” would be better off policing those kind of “feminists” than guys watching a show for girls. Come to think of it aren’t the actions described in said link far more anti feminist than pretty much anything in this community? Would feminism be any worse off without those kind of feminists? There would certainly be less feminist (with no qouation marks) woman being harassed by “feminists”

I’m working with my backup laptop right now, an ancient thing from The Before Times with Windows XP, so I’m still kinda getting used to not having the “View Image” feature whenever I right click.

No worries though, I was able to read it this time. And wow, that Anon totally wrecked that OP. I think I saw a comment somewhere on /mlp/ once that pretty nicely sums up my feelings towards what I just read:

*Just realized what that bit about the “uncited opinion piece” was about.

Actually, I linked those two because they had numerous links in them to other studies and resources, which are, by definition, citations, so they weren’t uncited.

@A-T-S
Good job ignoring my counterpoints, too.

The problem is I seriously doubt the objectivity of those studies. Was it Anita who said, “Everything’s sexist, racist, and phobic, and you have to point it all out”?

If you want to convince the world that you should be paid for complaining, then you need to be as biased as possible and skew data in your favor.

Here’s some examples of skewing things, taken to a comical extreme:
Looking at death rates of people rescued by emergency services, the worst possible way to be saved is being airlifted… So pay us $50 million and we’ll see why helicopters are so dangerous!
The worst place you could possibly go when you’re injured is the Hospital! - because you have the highest chance of dying there!
If you want to live forever, go to the moon. Since nobody’s died there, it must be an awfully safe place!

How do these kinds of gender “studies” introduce these biases without being so obvious?

“In fact,” says the National Women’s Law Center, “authoritative studies show that even when all relevant career and family attributes are taken into account, there is still a significant, unexplained gap in men’s and women’s earnings.” Not quite. What the 2009 Labor Department study showed was that when the proper controls are in place, the unexplained (adjusted) wage gap is somewhere between 4.8 and 7 cents. […] For example, its researchers count “social science” as one college major and report that, among such majors, women earned only 83 percent of what men earned. That may sound unfair… until you consider that “social science” includes both economics and sociology majors.
Economics majors (66 percent male) have a median income of $70,000; for sociology majors (68 percent female) it is $40,000. Economist Diana Furchtgott-Roth of the Manhattan Institute has pointed to similar incongruities. The AAUW study classifies jobs as diverse as librarian, lawyer, professional athlete, and “media occupations” under a single rubric–“other white collar.” …

Source

Oooooh wait a second… “MRA” means “Men’s Rights Activists”, doesn’t it? And you’re calling me a conspiracy theorist for saying that putting peoples’ paychecks on the line introduces bias? And you’re calling it a conspiracy theory to say that the wage gap isn’t real?

Well, honestly, I never ignored your Yale study because my response covered studies in general of this nature; they’re grossly biased and I’ve seen enough of it that I’m not interested in wasting more time on it when I’ve got more general relativity to study.

But you’ve still ignored the fact that if the wage gap actually existed that companies would be all over it because it could make them a lot of money. Expecting them to not go for that to decrease their salary expenses is like putting rotting meat out and not expecting it to attract flies.

@A-T-S
@Cirrus Light
Also I find it rather funny that you posted a mostly uncited opinion piece from Time when the actual studies they’ve posted on the matter contradict it.

Is it uncited, or did they post studies on the matter? Because it’s by definition impossible for it to be both. I still think that if you account for everything, you’ll find the wage gap is missing - take into account what maternal leave draws from their salary, what hours and other things they’ve negotiated, what specific positions they have within those areas, etc. etc. and you’ll find this is just another biased study.

And yeah, I didn’t even know what MRA meant because I don’t bother too much with this area because it’s so chalked full of bias and academic dishonesty that I really rather spend my time in hard sciences that are typically much better off, and you won’t find so much “proof” that contradicts other “proof” in hard sciences, because this has brought us to an impasse - we’ve both seen countless studies and papers that support our side of the argument, on top of that you have to add that there’s this subconscious misogyny.

As an aside I find this idea of subconscious misogyny to be a non-sensical, unfalsifiable objection to “I don’t hate women. I don’t know anyone that hates women. What the heck are you on about?”, because “the subconscious” allows you to say “Yes, you hate women, you just don’t know that you do!”

A. If I really hated something, you wouldn’t be able to question it.
B. It’s as unfalsifiable as me saying; “you believe in tiny woodland gnomes - you just don’t know it because it’s subconscious!”

Making an unfalsifiable assertion then putting the burden of proof on the other party to disprove it is the hallmark of wild conspiracy theorists, so if anyone here is more deserving of that title it’s not the one who’s not putting forth an unfalsifiable assertion then putting the burden of proof on the other party.

Anyways, that was a lengthy aside - as I was saying; we can both cite numerous studies. You can additionally cite subconscious misogyny. I additionally cite that if the wage gap existed, then companies would exploit it for profit, and studies that support it are often biased.

I’ve now responded to subconscious misogyny, and the studies you’ve linked and any you can link, and have linked some of my own. I have yet to see a response to my other assertions and my studies.
