Kind of odd she’s out there on the battlefield not wearing any armor.
Nah, I feel like it works. The first thing I thought when seeing all of the “Bad Futures” during that episode was, “Wait, technically this is still a show for little kids… right?”
It reminded me of that episode of The Powerpuff Girls where they went so fast that they ended up in a destroyed timeline in the future. When I was a kid, that felt really messed-up (their teacher just standing there waving, completely broken in the mind… that got me in particular). It’s not exactly the same scenario, but it does carry the same kind of weight.
Why yes I do, to the right you can see a sombra soldier clearly choking the life out of a good soldier, in the middle I see two ponies violently duking it out, and toward the top I can see a good pony crushing the spine of one of sombra’s soldiers.
Just because its been censored, DOES NOT mean the obvious is not occurring.
Take off the “PG-glasses” people.
@Vree
“Note the total lack of weapons.”
I like how we can still hear metal weapons clashing in the background. Even when none are on screen~
@Nightweaver20xx
“No blood, no visible injuries,”
Honestly, Rainbow Dash’s injuries seemed more “graphic” than I would expect to see in a show like this. Mostly her torn ear. The slightly faded scar over her eye and the replaced wing are about the extent I’d think a show for young children would go.
Somewhat true. But, the friendship thing really kinda depends on your perspective. My friends stayed with me because they like who I am, and because they can talk to me about anything. I respect them for who they are. And, we believe in each. We don’t let petty things separate us from each other. People think I am friendlier than I think, and that I should just believe in who I am more, so that I get more social in general. The list goes on.
(PS. I know these are “family cartoons” so it’s technically “safe” for adults to watch, just worth noting.)
Don’t want to take over this thread, so ignore me if you will, but it’s worth remembering that My Little Pony’s official target audience is girls from the ages of SIX TO ELEVEN.
(Plus younger than 6 who are old enough to watch cartoons more complex than the Teletubbies, I presume.)
They are fully aware that these messages about “friendship” wouldn’t fly with older schoolkids. Usually by the time you’ve been in kindergarten/elementary for a few years, you already know what the sh#t is up. You know friendships aren’t made and maintained by believing in yourself and such crap.
So this show is targeted at an audience even younger than that. Not only is it for kids, it’s for LITTLE kids.
It’s true, we really do get too absorbed in double standards and don’t give kids enough credit. Thinking that having to dumb things down is what we should always focus on to appeal to them, and teach them.
Elementary school was a jungle.
The difference between kids and adults is that adults are at least under SOME obligation to act morally, but little kids are underhanded.
Yeah, I think better examples of the show not just being for kids are actually more so in some of the writing and themes, than the mildly violent moments. The season finale, for example, had some mildly thought provoking stuff regarding the Butterfly Effect and whether or not predetermined outcomes are really what drive our lives. Stuff that most kids wouldn’t think too much about or understand.
Yes, it IS a show for little kids.
I think OP was just trying to point out that this series is aimed at more than a children’s demographic.
Just like the Legend of Korra series. Lets face it, if bronies didn’t exist, neither would this, and you can’t argue that and if you try, i got the trump card:
Episode 100.
In won this argument before it even started.:P
But it’s still cool.
