Well…” The pony lowers its voice, _{“ask for a miss Remedy; she does not like to be trifled with and she certainly does not like bad deals, but she can give you what you need.”} This didn’t sound like some sort of black market deal; it sounded like this pony knew something that wasn’t common knowledge and didn’t want it being taken advantage of.

For the purpose of logic, she probably wanders off into the woods to teach herself the languages in the translation guides.  
There are three optionals you may be interested in:  
1: The learning session can be timeskipped if necessary.  
2: The learning session can be interrupted by an unexpected encounter of some sort.  
3: If the ‘pony’ is hungry from the voyage(which makes sense considering the food temptation mentioned at port), she will probably go hunting for food.
