Evening in Maretime Bay. The many residents are preparing to turn in for the night. Vendors are closing up shop while others are exchanging parting words before retiring to their homes, a few staying behind to watch the sunset.
Unfortunately, on the outskirts, the peaceful atmosphere is suddenly interrupted by a bright orange vortex that rips through the air. A burst of fire erupts from within, before giving way to a monstrous bird-like creature. Powerful flames emanate from the edges of its wings, and its glowing yellow eyes pierce through the growing darkness. The beast lets out a chilling screech before taking flight, heading straight towards the seaside town.

Back in town, Sheriff Hitch Trailblazer is preparing to close the station for the night. Working alongside him is his newly-appointed Deputy, who has replaced the now disgraced Sprout Cloverleaf. And while the two have proven to be a much more compatible team and ensured a relatively peaceful day, the Sheriff still has to raise some concerns regarding his new colleague.
Hitch: Deputy, I chose you for this job because you told me you have extensive security training and hoof-to-hoof combat. And you do. There’s no doubt about that. But I can’t deny that some of your tactics are a little too excessive. For one thing, we don’t need to set up a security scan at the town’s entrance! That’s something we only consider as a last resort!
