I think the issue is the whole ‘hidden fees’ thing, which is like most of Flim and Flam’s schemes, legal but heavily dishonest.
Schooling seems to be subsided by the government anyway, which might well make the scheme illegal. They appear to be presenting the extra material as ‘optional upgrades’, but that clearly isn’t the case.
Conventional education, I’d think, could be funded by taxes. Y’know the same kind of schooling Cheerilee teaches the CMC. But friendship is extra curicular like a masteral or a Phd. Its optional so the student has to fund it themselves.

Not universally true. Look up ‘Education Act 1962’.

…insert unkind words about Tony Blair here.

@AC97
Would the word “embezzlement” be along the right lines for what they were doing?

Yes, though whether it’s illegal would depend on whether it was specifically stated that it would go towards the school.

…I wouldn’t put it past them to state it was for improving the ‘infrastructure of their facilities’.

I wish we have friendship school fo real. All it takes is one punch and people are like “stop punching me!” At this rate I’m never gonna make any friends.

You could just say “a lot of people” rather than make sweeping statements.

I mean, I could go to the MLP forums. Where, of the people who vote on whether they like an episode or not, 45 people voted that they either liked or loved the episode.

And just to give another example so you don’t say “Well, they like everything.” Non-compete clause had only 19 people vote that they even liked the episode, and only 2 that loved it. While 37 people hated or disliked it.

Why not just let the people who liked the episode like the episode?

People weren’t even talking about Matter of Principals. You just brought it up to gloat about how right you think you are.

@gingerninja666
Because there are no positive reviews or reaction of this episode. People who liked it just had a positive first impression and they don’t want to admit that this is another Cart before Ponies or What about Discord episode.

So you say there are no positive reviews or reactions. Then go onto say that those who had a positive review and reaction are just lying to themselves.

That’s impressive actually. I mean there’s no defence against that logic. “Look, everyone hates it, and those that don’t are liars.”

You don’t have to be an idiot to enjoy Princess Spike or SPike at Your Service, but at least admit that Matter of Principals was written as bad.

I actually watched the Brony pair video earlier. I definitely didn’t get the impression that they HATED it. I remember them laughing and cheering during the Starlight kamehameha sequence. YOu know, the bit that so many on this site bitched about? And they went “aww” during Starlight’s speech at the end. They definitely didn’t LOVE it, but I didn’t feel like they were angry or anything.

You also act like someone can’t just find an episode fun. That actually IS a reason some people like episodes. Because they find them enjoyable to watch.

Like, take this conclusion to a long, critical review someone posted on TV tropes.

“So. Yeah. There’s a lot not to like about this episode. But it’s also a fun and energetic episode with some great jokes and character moments. This is a violently atrocious episode with an awful moral and terrible characterization decisions, executed hilariously and delightfully well. Easily one of the worst and funniest Discord episodes ever produced.”

That’s my problem. You don’t just say you dislike an episode, you seem to try to make people who don’t agree with you feel like shit.

That sounds like Honest Apple. I actually enjoyed that episode, because the individual components were actually quite good, it just fell apart as a whole.

And you missed the point of what I was saying.

The episode wasn’t unintentionally funny like the Room though. The things people like about Matter of Principals are things that were intended by the writer. It’s not the same. The episode clearly put gags above most other things, so if the episode was successfuly entertaining to people in that regard, then it didn’t completely fail. It succeeded in its primary goal.

I don’t know why it’s so important to you for people to admit that you’re right.

@gingerninja666
It’s just a proof that it’s pointless to argue or discuss any of the episodes if you are more focused on damage controlling even the worst episodes of the series than ever come to agreement. It doesn’t matter if it’s Perfect Pear or if it’s an episode where Pinkie Pie shits on toilet for 22 minutes. You can just throw some comments like “it was funny when she farted” and defend the overall quality fo the episode because one or two people liked it. It’s pointless. The point of discussion is not looking up desperate attempts to defend it no matter who wrote it and how. It’s to trying to come up with conclusion of whether the episode was worth anything. And its in majority hurting the show than adding anything.

I don’t get why it’s so hard for you to see that just because people disagree with you, especially in such subjective issues, doesn’t mean that are dumber than you.

Or why you feel such a need to have your opinions be treated as a objetive fact.

I mean, I discuss things because I find discussing things with people fun. I don’t come here to engage in a massive intellectual debate about the “objective” quality of episodes. I come here to listen to what people have to say. Hear why THEY liked or disliked something. Hear why they came to the conclusions they did. Talk about our differing or complementary opinions.

This thread does not exist for the purpose of everyone coming together and agreeing if an episode is good or bad. NONE of the season threads have ever been that.

Also could you stop acting like I defend EVERY episode.

The problem is you’re not arguing. You take up something, spray your dislike over it, try to justify this with the opinion of third parties and you lead your opinion very aggressively into the field. Above all, you are constantly generalizing. And if that doesn’t work, you try to make topics or people look ridiculous. This is not a culture of discussion that you practise. This is literally pure flaming.

And then you complain that people don’t respond to it or want to talk as much about it as you do. Please, just put this in your mind: Not everyone sees life or the show as negatively as you do. Learn to live with it. As we have to learn to endure your “vent” all the time. Just my humble opinion.
