What are your expectations for Opaline and Misty?

Talked about this with some commentors in a video that i posted:

Opaline may end up pointing out how misty struggles to be evil in a more comedic way of a running gag but it doesn’t appear that misty is abused or forced to be a villain. She could end up being like sonata dusk where the fandom insists that she will reform or isn’t as bad as the others because she’s cute. Despite the fact that she is fully complicit in the deeds of her more serious villain accomplice. That’s what I got from the scene at least.

Personally don’t have a guessing expectation other than being enjoyable to watch like Sprout yet, I honestly wanna see how she is watching the series.

Does anyone else think that glowing cutie marks will finally be explained in Make Your Mark Chapter 2? You can see Izzy’s cutie mark glowing in the recent trailer. There’s also this description on Netflix relating to cutie marks:

I’m more interested in Misty than Opaline in my opinion

I thought I would be the izzy effect with misty where most say that’s there fav character from the movie because of how cute they are. While I personally prefer another character in g5 because I feel they are more developed and have more detailed characterization.

Not to say I don’t like izzy btw because truly I do like her. But In this case, Misty is not just cute but as a character as well im intersted, as I can’t really get a complete read on her on how good or evil she is. I’m probably as interested in misty as opaline right now, even though I like misty’s design more.

Oh joy, another opportunity to rewrite marks.

This sentence revealed that it is not a message stored in the Unity Crystals from the past, instead showing that this is direct contact between the hologram and the receiver, in that it is a response to a current event. The eyes on the hologram also showed that she has eye contact with the person she was talking to. This means that the hologram is intelligent and could observe its surroundings, so we have the answer to the riddle of why the Unity Crystals reacted without outside input as Sunny got the alicorn powers.

So the question is who is this hologram. At first impression, this is Twilight Sparkle, but she is in her “young” mode from the time before the coronation in S9, which she is best known for, and thus easy to identify at first sight. This is contrary to established lore from the G4 about Twilight becoming a fully grown alicorn with the same size and body design as Celestia (and Nightmare Moon), “Twilight 2.0” penned by Faust herself.

From the movie it has been shown, with the exception of the mysterious alicorn feather that could only have come from Twilight 2.0, that Twilight is remembered in her “young” mode by Sunny and her father, Argyle. Sunny possibly wouldn’t have recognized Twilight 2.0 as Twilight Sparkle. A drawing and the famous wooden toy model show the “young” Twilight.

It could be the real Twilight communicating through the Unity Crystals, but as the hologram seemed to be evidenced by the surroundings and ongoing events as past events, it meant a presence rather than from a different dimension. And she could have chosen to camouflage her own appearance so as not to scare the Mane 5 and get Sunny’s attention right away.

Twilight in G4 was not only an avid magical student concerned with magic, she was also concerned with technology and knowledge in general, and was more or less a genius within her areas of knowledge. It would not have been unnatural for her to research and develop something new, and she has had a sense for assistance tools. It could be natural for her to create a “magic interactive A.I”. Such an A.I. fits well with Twilight’s personality, because it is possible that she is the one behind the electronic revolution in the G5’s past and she could create magical copies of electronic A.I. from our world. If she had the Unity Crystals in her possession for many centuries, this possibility is not inconceivable.

But it could also be possible that the hologram is an “astral spirit projection” of Twilight through the Unity Crystals that could give her the ability to observe the physical world even if she is trapped in the magical dimension. And that may mean that she has to create an indirect projection instead of projecting herself - and we know that her happiest time was when she was with her friends in Ponyville. Perhaps the emotional-magical side of the Unity Crystals that allowed positive emotions makes this inevitable.

Don’t know which is preferable, an A.I. without memories of Twilight’s life or Twilight herself through indirect projections with the Unity Crystals as a link between the magical dimension and the physical world.

And we don’t know if she’s currently alive or dead, because she’s an alicorn - and it’s possible that she’s met the same fate as Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda, by ascending or being held back in the magical dimension. There is a possibility that she may never return to the physical world. But Sunny can come to her in the day she ascends to become an alicorn.

We don’t know how the Discord Arc will end, but it is possible that he will “meet” Fluttershy and finally accept his grief that had driven him hard during the time he was aging in Cantelot. And from #6, it’s clear that the Unity Crystals will play a role in the final conclusion.

Or it could just mean she’s with them in spirit/figuratively.

Unlikely. The sentence suggests that she intervenes directly in the physical world to give the Mane 5 assistance, and we don’t know if it was to advise them against the mysterious plants planted by Misty that seemed to have a destabilizing effect on the earth ponies, or after the danger was over in Maretime Bay.

Opaline uses the same tactics as in the IDW comics with cunning and shady methods, so she is not the type who prefers direct confrontation, more like a manipulator who works in the shadows to achieve her goals. But her sabotage revealed that she knew what would happen to the earth ponies’ magic and what plant could make this magic uncontrollable. So much for “the magic of the earth ponies for the first time in history”…

Don’t think she’s evil or corrupt, more of an unscrupulous pony who will stop at any cost to achieve her ambitions, and her relationship with Misty suggests she may have an unexplained motive that wasn’t evil . Guess what it was? Anyway, she and Misty are not evil villains - and even the villains in the G4 had motives for their life choices, as seen with Tirek and his father. They are even more dangerous, because they believed their motives justified their actions.

But in the end, Opaline will confront Sunny personally, and that will be the beginning of a conflicted relationship that will likely end with Opaline being defeated and reformed. The two alicorns can become friends at the end of G4, because Opaline, despite her openly racist attitudes towards non-unicorns and unscrupulousness, is not lost for restoration as a “good” alicorn.

Don’t think Opaline was behind Equestria’s collapse. Also, it is interesting that she and Misty are not technologically oriented like the other ponies, as if they had disappeared from the rest of the world for many centuries. Maybe they were imprisoned by the Mane 6 in the dark castle one thousand years ago? Opaline was one of the worst villains in the time between G4 and G5 with her undermining of the ponies’ social balance.

It was implied that the collapse of their society was caused by three tribes themselves. Not an outsider, not a thousand year old non pony, but it was their own society that imploded because that’s what societies do. Its inevitable. Rome, Babylon, Mayan, United States.

The comics just posits that Opaline seeded distrust among ponies and then let paranoia do the rest, like how Cozy Glow tried. She just ended up more successful than the Enragement Child.

It’s a pretty convenient ‘Have your cake’ type suggestion.
