Because we had like two pages of conversation pointing out that PMs are for two person conversations, not for using as chatrooms. Use actual chatrooms, the forums and/or skype if you want to social chat.

Fancy Tags are kind of awful at actually suggesting tags, in my experience. You can type out most of a tag and it still will be like ‘duuuuh nope no idea’.

Just use Fancy Tags. If nothing comes up, it’s a new tag (or it’s bugged, btw mods). Hit enter to accept Fancy Tags’ suggestion, hit comma to ignore it and tag what you typed.

Hey there, remember when there was a discussion about how to make the site more artist-friendly? It resulted in adding a fave counter to the image thumbnails (and the image pages), so artists can see how many people really like their pics.
How about including a “watch count” to the tag info boxes? I think “watches” are even more important for artists than individual faves. You can fave single images of an artist, but it says a lot when you like him enough to watch him.
Maybe it can look more or less like this:

That sounds like a very good idea. As long as it’s kept anonymous, anyway – I think some people might object if the watch list is made public. Still, I like this idea a lot. :)

It’s a bit pejorative, but the point is exactly to “stroke an artist’s e-dick”, so they see how many users love their arts (so they are more motivated). The recently fave counter serves the same purpose.

Make that list public, like in DA, FA, etc. and maybe it’ll work.

The watch counter seems to just be more useless since the fav thing is a picture by picture: you can tell how well the picture is received by how many faves, upvotes, and downvotes it has instead of how good an artist is via actual skill instead of popularity dick waving contest.

And if they do that, then they’ll be crying themselves to sleep at night as they chow down on some secret shame sandwich. I’m not saying that the potential for abuse isn’t there – because it is – but practically every feature on this site already has the potential to be abused, right up to the most basic function, which is uploading images. I don’t think we should let fear of abuse hold us back on some potentially useful features, otherwise we’ll never get things done.
Anyway, regarding public watch lists, I have to say I’m opposed to it. Our fave lists are public and that’s ok for most folks, but I’m fairly sure that some people “watch” certain tags that they don’t want the general public to know about.

If it makes artists want to have their art here, then it’s hardly pointless. You probably won’t find it useful and neither will a lot of other folks, but it’s not entirely without merit.

Why would someone want to bring their artwork here, when you have asspats from DA, circlejerks on furaffinity, and everywhere else that doesn’t have any legit critique or anyone to point out why this leg is drawn wrong without being kicked in the cock?

But seriously, though. Derpibooru is an image site, and an image site needs images. If there’s a tiny little feature that more or less just strokes e-peen but can benefit the site in some way (while not inconveniencing others), then I don’t see the harm.

-> Fimfiction has a list with the most followed (ie, watched) users and that list has been 80% the same for the last year or so.
-> Unlike Top Scoring, you can’t really filter artists. So that’s going to be filled with porn artists then, I guess.
-> Do we really need to encourage people to post more of these useless “milestone” things.
-> Some people will just go and intentionally mistag things with certain (massively-watched) tags just so that it’ll show up in more users’ watched lists. Or, like, cut-and-paste some obligatory johnjoseco/atryl thing JUST so they can tag it with the artist (because the juxtapositions aren’t worse enough already).
In other words, I’d rather not make this a thing.

Hmm… never really thought of there being a Top Watched list. I was thinking more of the lines of tag information, something like in OrionFOTL’s mockup and nothing more. As for milestone uploads and intentional mistags, well, you’re more familiar with the history of those things on this site than I am, so I’ll take your word for it. Personally, I don’t really see the potential abuse becoming as big of a problem as you fear – I feel it would stay within manageable levels. Then again, you’re the one who’s mostly going to be coding the feature if implemented, so it’s really your say. Just throwing suggestions out there to see what sticks. :)
