I’m not sure if that’s canon or regarded that way anymore. The post-Rare DK games like “King of Swing,” or “Returns” ignore that. Seemed like only a joke Rare invented.
I remember a former Rare employee said Nintendo didn’t understand some of their humor, such as Cranky Kong badmouthing the game, and didn’t understand self-deprecational humor, or the stereotype of old people hating new technologies.
Because DKCountry was an English game first, when they localized it as “Super DK” for Japan, they changed alot of the text to preserve the humor, like instead making Cranky Kong act more like a grumpy, old, Japanese man.
