Robert Calvert - Ship Of Fools, The Lay Of The Surfers, Brave New World, Moonshine In The Mountains and Storm Chant Of The Skraelings
From the second solo album by the late South Africian-British poet/writer/songwriter/musician (and ex-member of Hawkwind), “Lucky Leif and the Longships” (1975)
Produced by Brian Eno (with added synthesizer and instrumental treatments by him), this is a concept album dealing with an alternate universe scenario in which the United States had been colonised by the Vikings, and its resulting affects on American culture. As such, the album explores different American musical styles. For example, the aforementioned “The Lay Of The Surfers” is a Beach Boys parody. The album features some of Calvert’s contemporaries in Hawkwind, including the esteemed Sci-Fi author (and Hawkwind collaborator) Michael Moorcock, who himself doubled as a musician.
Robert Calvert (Born in Pretoria, South Africa, but a resident of the UK since the 1960s) had Bipolar Disorder, which sometimes affected his creative output (and caused friction with his bandmates). In any case, he is always remembered fondly for his contributions to the British literary and music scene. He passed away from a heart attack in 1988.

David Gilmour - Luck And Strange (Feat. Richard Wright), The Piper’s Call, A Single Spark, Between Two Points (Feat. Romany Gilmour) and Sings
From the fifth and most recent studio album by the English (From Cambridge, Cambridgeshire) guitarist/singer/songwriter (and ex-member of Pink Floyd), “Luck And Strange” (2024). With contributions from both family (e.g. his aforementioned daugther Romany, who sings lead on the cover of the Montgolfier Brothers’ “Between Two Points, and his wife Polly Samson wrote most of the lyrics) and respected musicians, including longtime Pink Floyd collaborator Guy Pratt on bass, Roger Eno (younger brother of Brian Eno) on piano, and archival recordings featuring Gilmour’s late Floyd bandmate Richard Wright on the title track. I’d say this best album since 2006’s On An Island. Heck, maybe even his best yet!

Twink - Dead End, Afterglow, Moonchild, Lady Love and You Reached For The Stars
From the 2013 Psychedelic rock album by the English (Born in Colchester, Essex in 1944) musician, “You Reached For The Stars”, with the Technicolour Dream band.
Twink, aka Mohammad Abdullah (Formerly John Alder), is considered a very important figurehead in the history of British Underground music, having played in various Psychedelic, Space rock and Protopunk bands over the years including Tomorrow, The Pretty Things, Pink Fairies, Hawkwind, Stars, The Rings and the Bevis Frond, as well as a prolific solo musician. He also perfomed alongside the likes of famous Rock musicians such as Jon Lord (later of Deep Purple), Steve Howe (his bandmate in Tomorrow, later of Yes and Asia) and Syd Barrett (Pink Floyd’s oringal singer/songriter/guitarist) at different points of his career, to name a few. He converted to Islam in 2006, but continues to record under his stage/nickname (which he got as a young man due to his tendency to use Twink brand home perm lotion to style his naturally curly long shock of hair).
