I’ve had quite the busy weekend. Went to an eye exam yesterday and found out I am a candidate for LASIK and then went to the mall for a few hours then returned home and visited my godmother today after a while of not seeing them. I’m exhausted, but I enjoyed my weekend.

On May 11th, 1985, a football/soccer match was underway in Bradford City, UK between the teams Bradford and Lincoln City. Hosted at Bradford’s Valley Parade Stadium which was made out of wood and built in the late 1800’s, it had been hardly updated and promoters planned on replacing the stadium after the match. During the game, a lit cigarette was accidentally dropped between the stands and ignited the mounds of papers and candy wrappers that have accumulated for decades and started an uncontrollable blaze. In under 4 minutes, the entire stand was engulfed in flames as spectators either ran into the field or ran to the back towards the exits which were locked and closed. In the end, 56 people died and over 265 were injured where some burned alive in their streets and many died from smoke inhalation.

The “Star Trek Movie Curse” is a fan term made by fans of the Star Trek franchise, in reference to the quality of the various movies from the franchise

The “curse” is that the ODD numbered movies in series are considered to be bad by both critical/fan reception, while the EVEN numbered movies are considered to be the good ones in the series. However this “curse” has been noticed to be broken by the 10th film in the franchise, Star Trek: Nemesis, as the film was both a critical and box office failure so bad, that it helped temporary kill off the franchise for several years

Ironically enough, the 2009 reboot trilogy of the Star Trek movies is seen as an INVERSE of the “curse”, as the 1st and 3rd movies (Star Trek and Star Trek: Beyond) received praise from both fans and critics, while the 2nd movie (Star Trek: Into Darkness) had a more mixed reception
