How people see Derpibooru

I have noticed an increased amount of people who vocalize their opinion about Derpibooru in quite a negative way.
 
I mean, we are “scumbags”, “the assholes of the internet” (wow, we are getting compared to /b/ now!), most of the user base are rape apologists and more shit like that.
 
I mean, compared to ponibooru we are saints! Yet people have a really negative view of us. What is more, barely anyone complains about the site “in site”. It has been months (or weeks, cant remember) since the last negative post about derpiboru was posted in a pic/forum thread.
 
Its like people love poking the hive (us) and when we get mad at them and stink their sorry asses we are the bad guys, or something.

I don’t really care. Derpi is the only community in this fandom I can stomach and so, if it’s not happening here I don’t really give a shit.

It has it’s low moments, and I do feel the place can be cliqueish. But overall, I would say it’s the best pony place.

This site has become nicer with time (something I don’t really like). Current DB is fairly friendly, ‘till the regular delicious drama thread flares up.
 
I guess people are too used to positive opinions, here we seem to have a mixed response for everything.
 
I don’t really care how other people sees us; being the outcasts of the fandom is cool (even though that’s not really true anymore)

It’s the best place for pony art, and that’s what is most important to me.
 
It’s funny, because a lot of places that do complain about us (Tumblr and other pony sites being the worst offenders) preach a “love and tolerance” policy. We don’t uphold that here - I much prefer the iron rule of “don’t be a dick” - but then again, neither do the aforementioned websites.
 
There are many people on here that have opinions that I really can’t stand, but it’s the internet. There are things to talk about other than politics, or your opinion on gay marriage. I feel like that’s a concept well understood (at least by the regulars) here, but not on other sites.

The main reason I’m attracted to Derpibooru is that, based on my personal observation, I feel that this site has the most varied spectrum of attitudes on this fandom. There’s the “trolololololol” wackos, the self-entitled know-it-alls, the oversensitive drama queens, and there’s the reasonable non-nonsense people, all gathered together in one single website, while most of the others only consist of one or two of these types of fans. It feels like I’m having the most genuine, unadulterated experience of the fandom here.

what? I love DP, it’s the best site.

Fuck what others think, this site (like its predecessor) is awesome. Given that this is primarily a pony art site, we are (on some level or another) pony art connoisseurs.

I’ll preface this by saying that these days I barely “participate” in other sites.
 
As far as I can tell, Ponibooru was seen as an extension of the various chans of its day, mainly 413chan (obviously), /co/ and ponychan; I personally didn’t initially see it as a site or community of its own, not until I actually got into it. I think it’s probable that others saw it the same way.
 
In our case that association doesn’t exist, other than the link of the Great Migration, so the site is observed as an entity on its own.
 
Add to that that the fandom has continued to grow and spread out, past the confines of being a fairly geeky thing born from a somewhat “internet savvy” culture. Many don’t know Ponibooru ever existed, the origins of the fandom or that /mlp/ is a thing. Derpibooru is a site a lot people in the fandom have heard about, it’s linked to from fairly popular sites and discussed openly. Which means some of the people new to the fandom coming here, don’t have anything to compare to, and don’t realize that this is a place that has both bad and good. And are disgusted and shocked.
 
It’s not surprising that someone that just got into the show at the start of S3 and spends most of their internet time on DeviantArt as part of a heavily moderated SFW group and otherwise maybe visits Equestria Daily once or twice would freak out when they get here.

 
You know what this is? This is the Derpibooru haters cup of coffee in the big time yeah, CUP OF COFFEE IN THE big time, because they never get any closer then that. Now Derpibooru is the greatest Pony lover site on the Internet and it will remain the greatest pony lover site and ALL THE OTHER SITES will be no factor yeah. Cup of Coffee yeah.

I dunno, I guess it’s partly because DB has porn as well as the attitude and responses us the users had to the DWM campaign.
 
I personally think it’s silly to hate anything online or to hate someone for what interests them, but I’ve since long learned that people are very touchy about sex while violence is A-OK. No matter how much guro pictures, stories with torture, violence and murder and so forth, people will never dislike it as much as the porn. Oh, they might dislike the guro and murder stories, but they’ll never display such open hate and distaste as they do with porn.
 
Same thing with the DWM movement. there’s countless things with murder, torture and so forth among the Ask tumblrs with no one batting an eye nor forming a movement. So remember, it’s okay to maim, cut and take a dump on Twilight’s body, just as long as you don’t put your donger into her, that’d be completely immoral.
 
Personally I think this site has a good attitude amongst its members, everyone seems to be getting along fairly well even when having differentiating views.

Probably because of that. We didn’t throw our hat in with DWM and instead just kind of rolled our eyes. (I actually wasn’t here while most of it happened, having actual health problems to deal with.)
 
EDIT: I should add the caveat that I have actually always considered myself to be on the side of feminism and have found a better portrayal of women in media and women’s rights in general to be incredibly laudable goals.
 
Then again, with the way Tumblr is these days you can be called an MRA for tying your own shoes. So… I dunno.

Do a search of tags on tumblr with the word “derpibooru” “drama” “dwm”. You will see that many times the site is explicitly mentioned, or there are screenshots of people’s words.
 
The most explicit example (run by a guy who seems to spend his whole time checking us out) is “The horrors of derpibooru”.

The fact that it’s supposed to be taken seriously makes it a whole lot more hilarious.

Derpibooru is pretty much an island used as a scapegoat, yet also something that is used quite a bit.
 
Again, you can draw disembowelment of a a pony and draw an R34 picture of a pony. Guess which one will be controversial?

Oh wow. That’s awesome. I also like how they use an image site that allows anything that is legal or not obvious troll spam to stand for some monolithic kind of acceptance. It’s like having a “fuck no youtube” tumblr and showing videos of stupid shit. As if somehow youtube just loves it all.
