Its quite funny and interesting as a social phenomena. A group of people, who share the same communication platform with no pre-defined label (a la: “/b/, the internet hate machine”), acting with a holier-than-thou attitude born from the interaction between themselves. Not surprisingly, this specific group is the most vocal and immature. They go on “crusades” against something they hate yet they dont fully understand. Its not like they even bother to do their homework regarding said “unholy” subject. Its like the site degrades their mentality to the typical boy who fears girl’s cooties.

The sad thing is that a lot of these activists are disingenuous. Some only support social causes because they can use them to get attention and praise, not because they have commitment towards it. If they really did, they’d give money or time towards it. But alas, most of them “can’t afford” charity and spend all of their time…well…online.

Copy-pasting, signing online petitions, agreeing on everything, joining a group just to show that you agree with what they do, ect.
 
Such activities COULD lead to real stuff changing for the best, since you also influence others around you, which makes you earn their sympathy or even their support.
 
Now take Tumblr. A boy afraid of girl’s cooties. They gather numbers when fighting something they find bad, but…surprise surprise, someone doesnt agree with you!
 
Whats the next course of action? Berate them, call them “x” apologists! They surely are worse than hitler! And guess what?
 

 
Considering the kind of reach each user has, Tumblr could be the perfect place for campaigns. But of course, its users also have the tools to sink their own boats.

Yes, but Saudi Arabia seems too much like a paradise compared to DPRK. In North Korea, from what I’ve heard, if you are just suspected of disloyalty to the regime or have any connections to the outside world, you and your entire family will be sent to those labour camps or just outright executed.
 
Maybe send them to Congo or Sudan.

Easiest way to lose support for people who may have agreed with you is to paint with a broad brush and then say “I DON’T HAVE TIME TO JUDGE EVERYONE INDIVIDUALLY JEEZ” or something similar when presented with someone who disgarees.
 
In fact, a large segment of the anti-pony community detests people coming up to them and saying that they’re not like that/apologizing.
 
The best part of it all though?
 
They say people should “police” their own fandoms.

Mostly I suggest Saudi Arabia out of a sense of poetic justice, but yes, the Congo or Sudan would also be a good choice. DPKR I would reserve for internet fascists.

They forget the fact that we are not a tribe with a king or something, we are all a bunch of people who share their like for a cartoon show, and then who bring their shittiness and share it with everyone.

It’s essentially a place where anyone with an opinion that is different from the popular one is not allowed. That’s what it is in practice. Most people call them “hugboxes” now.

The hugbox could, theoretically, be applied on a forum with a certain theme, certain rules and such (like a forum dealing with fetishes, a certain activity [like rping] or political view).
 
But you cant apply it on facebook, tumblr and such.

Congo may be the better place to be outside of Sudan, from what I hear on how the general populace feels on white people in the new South Sudan, at least. And in the Congo at least, the UN is there to run to if you need to cry, and Kinshasha is a city at least.
 
And M23 has fell back to Uganda, so there’s that.
 
Now, the place to not be is the CAR, at least if you’re Muslim. As far as I know, there and Sudan are probably the least inviting of the African nations, who can take you in pretty warmly. But give South Sudan a couple years, and the paranoid hostility will end, and the CAR its own time and it will done with its bout of regularly scheduled genocide.

Can we not talk about doing terrible things to people that write words on the internet on a thread where we complain that those people don’t like us “for some mysterious reason”?
