The show is becoming too self aware, and I love it. The “Friends For Life” song sequence was just giving off too much in-your-face-over-the-top-Friendship-is-Magic vibes. Cheerilee made a passing comment on how Earth Ponies have to do everything with their hooves. Fluttershy gives off her cute face while a butterfly goes past. This season is just chock full of this meta self aware stuff and I love it for that.

Almost the same mane style. Part of me wonders if they intended it to be the same pony as they also included her in Viva Las Pegasus as a background cameo.

Part of me forgot that Pinkie Pie slathered a bunch of hot sauce on a cupcake and ate it whilst enjoying it. Then I remembered she also tasted a rainbow in the weather factory that one time and found it extremely spicy.

I honestly at first thought it was Button’s Mom, but then I had to double think about it since there is no way that is her (Aside from not having the same cutie mark). If the pony hasn’t been named before yet, I still retain the headcanon that it is Button’s Mom

Season 6: Timid and shy about becoming part of the main cast  
Season 7: Fully integrated into the mane cast and is happy  
Season 8: Will have a goofy expression (I hope)

I really adore the art direction the show has been taking. There has been a heavy use of more detailed textures and art (Fluttershy’s cottage, Zecora’s hut, the inside of Town Hall) and uses of lighting and shadow (This scene from Celestial Advice, when Pinkie gets out on her balcony during the “Pinkie’s Lament” song during the episode “Pinkie Pride”) and in the small preview clips we’ve been seeing, all of that is culminating into the MLP movie with heavy use of lighting and shadows as well as more detailed textures on top of the new art style they are trying out.
 
 
As someone who enjoys watching the progression of art styles in animated shows that have been on for a long time, it’s quite exciting to see it happening here in MLP as well.

This segment was awesome. Really kind of lampshaded Friendship is Magic by shoving all the cutesy, fluffy, bouncy pop stuff into one song that kind of lampoons the whole “Mane 6 bond, laugh, and sing a song” type of storyarc we’ve seen done before many times.

That’s what I am most excited to see of the movie; art direction. We’ve seen there be gradual minute changes of animation, such as Fluttershy’s cottage upgrade with increased detail and bloom to various different animation tryouts (i.e. various “faic” moments) that seeing it all come together into one big and long project is amazing to see.

Just thought I’d ask, why do you use Adobe Fireworks? Just curious since my CS4 package also comes with Photoshop and Illustrator and I see people give reasons for using either of the two when it comes to drawing the very smooth lines that MLP designs require.

Did anyone notice that uh…the video is no longer available?

What I used to do was make the outlines normally using the pen tool in Photoshop, but then I’d just use a paint tool and color it in like a coloring book with the paint layer being behind the outline layer. If you were to make the outline transparent or even nonexistent they’d just look like a bloby lump and not a clean as shown in the pic. It wasn’t that big of an issue during Season 1 where everything pretty much had opaque outlines to it. Then characters like Princess Luna, the Breezies, and the Crystal Ponies were introduced and my rather sloppy-just-and-hide-it-behind-the-outline method just didn’t work anymore for those characters.

I honestly want to know what it’s like to snuggle in that pouch.

I’ve seen this artist’s work elsewhere on Furaffinity and I love the way he draws his snakes. They look both cute and threatening at the same time.

That face. I want Flurry Heart’s face framed and hung on a wall.

EDIT: Oh I get it. Take the weird disk thing on her leg and use her horn to fling it. Magic, gotcha…

I sometimes wish I had a time machine. Not to do big stuff like alter history or make the right moves in the stock market. I just want to know what was in websites like these. Small closed off communities where artists would swap lewd art of a certain niche and only really share it among themselves. Only for the websites to close down years later or groups just becoming inactive and dead. There is so much fandom art out there (Furries technically started in the 80’s, so pre-internet days especially) which makes me wonder how much we’ve missed.

The largest arrow usually points north. That means the lighthouse, shipwreck, trees, and everything else were all drawn on upside down by the map maker.

First sand particles, now confetti particles. I wonder what’s next.

Look at all the unguarded edges. One too many ciders and then you step outside for some fresh air and whoops
