Actually, back when those types of higher class folks were prominent, it became customary for folks who has undesirable hair to wear wigs all the time. Anyone who wears wigs all day will eventually lose their hair. This still happens nowadays with folks who wear hats 24/7.
This above scene happened in one of the many stooge “pie fights” where a high society lady lost her whole hair.
It actually happened in Sweet and Elite.
