Everyone always says they would split up immediately, but I figure that if you live with two people for hundreds of years, even if you don’t like them, it’d probably be pretty hard to imagine a life without them. Not to mention any home they’d all want to stay at whatever home they already had in the human world.

Adagio is the only evil masterming.  
Aria is just subject to peer pressure while Sonata just likes to hang around.

I would not assume that calling it “feeding” means it has the same connotations as not eating. On top of the fact they eat normal food, Adagio in the comic states that “There’s still a whisper of magic left in our pendants!. Enough for us to keep singing.”
 
It seems its the pendants that need to be fed to work, not them. That the magic is independent of their new human bodies. As for Aria’s metaphor, I would say it is just that.

The sirens were three beautiful but dangerous creatures who had the power to charm ponies with their music. But to maintain this power, they had to feed on the negativity and distrust of others. The more of this negative energy they consumed, the stronger their voices became, and the farther they could spread their dark magic.
 
I doubt they relied negative energy for sustenance but as this implies to maintain their powers.

I have my own theory for what happened afterward: they learned how to sing for real without the help of their amulets, they also taught themselves instruments, and became a highly successful all-girl glam metal group.
