Perhaps I should have rephrased what I put, what I meant was you get a physical copy of the original containing a simplistic childlike mind, capeable of learning (as shown by Pinkie “prime” teaching the copies).  
As Luna (in my mini head-canon) wants a daughter, starting with a childlike copy is kinda OK.

That would be cool. But of course the mirror pool clones have a one-track mind. But maybe once you create a new body with it, creating a full mind… well, maybe possible but with a whole lot of doing.

Head canon:  
Luna decides to create a daughter via the mirror pool. As there can be only one “moon pony” what she gets is a copy of what she would have been if she had not taken control of the moon.
