i dont know, they been doing this for years now. for me it was usefull when i travel since my portable dvd player was not blue ray but i had a blueray system at home.

It’s so that when you take it with you to your poor pleb friends for a slumber party, you can still watch the movie on their shitty old DVD player that doesn’t have surround sound or a 70 inch plasma screen.
