While mostly speculation and how verifiable this convo with Shadyvox is, Button Mash may become a more permanent canon character on the show. But take with grain of salt, as always.

And are you OK with everything in that comment up to the “gamer Luna” mention?

Except those of us who don’t want fandom-crap like “gamer luna” getting into the show.
And with Gamer Luna canon, Molestia becomes canon as well. Thanks for giving me nightmares for the next few weeks. XD
And they could use him to introduce the CMC to video games, and the CMC could then get gaming-related cutie marks, making them more appealing to fans! Heck, they could even use this to make “gamer Luna” canon! Everybody’s happy!
Horse News is a completely unreliable source of info, but whether they made this up or not, I find both scenarios highly likely. Jan’s already dropped hints that negotiations with Hasbro over his animations have been going positively, and Button was already a Hasbro character. I highly, highly doubt we’ll see Button’s Mom on the show. She’s Jan’s OC, and Hasbo isn’t going to put a character on the show they don’t 100% own the rights to. It’s a massive legal headache. Button, however, wouldn’t be much of a stretch to show up again. He’s popular with fans, he was already on the show once, and he was already established as a gamer, so they could literally depict him exactly as Jan did and change nothing we didn’t already know about him.
The ride never ends. People keep biting obvious bait. The cycle continues.
At least we won’t have to wail long to confirm this.
I would love to see Button and his Mom in the show.
