AFAIK lesbian is just a shipping tag, along with gay and straight. There’s lots of non-explicit images with the tag.

Anything from the “Rarijack Daily” tumblr gets tagged “rarijack”, logically enough; however, “rarijack” also automatically adds the tag “lesbian” to an image, so unless someone comes along and manually removes it, it’s there whether it fits the image or not.
So, yeah, if you see “lesbian” (or “straight” or “gay” or whatever) on an image where it just really doesn’t seem like it belongs, do a quick check for extra context and, if there is none, feel free to remove it.
