maybe he did send some guys and they made an agreement with whoever was there at the time? they just didn’t add the territory because there’s nothing much there to brag about?

Quick question for any Mongol-enthusiasts: In every map I’ve seen of Mongol conquests, Siberia is never included as part of their empire, despite being directly north of their homeland. Why is that?
 
I know that there wasn’t much in Siberia at that time, but there were still small tribes and valuable fur-bearing animals, and the steppes weren’t particularly populous or resource rich either.
 
I know that if I was Genghis Khan, I would have at least sent like six guys to ride around up there, maybe knock over a few of the natives’ tents, just to say I’d conquered it.
