You didn’t cause anything. I’m the one who likes to argue! It’s up to you if you want to visit again, but I don’t think you’d be going wrong if you even went so far as to make your own account.

This is me again, your humble owl-writer.

Please allow me to apologize. I realize now that I might as well not have came here and left any comment for it would now discourage you, whose opinion I found quite so logical and, as I said it before, I appreciated it. I am still and will always be a good study and learning the views of others is, without any lie, a target of mine. I live to learn and this philosophy had served me quite well in these advanced years of mine.

The views on dA, the comments, and the likes all came to my own satisfaction, which is why I thought to look for the negative comments by googling “Angelic Flutterboom” ((I hope this does not make me sound conceited, but I was amazed by the results when I searched the web for results of this comic _ ))

This all leads me to the point I wanted to explain: I am not upset; not that much.
But what I really wanted from you and all others who were not so keen on the story was to give me their opinions now that the “Flutterboom” page was published. Only then would I get the real views, remarks, and opinions that are not based on speculations; the opinions that might, for all hopes and purposes, help me write my next MLP project ((I have quite a few comics hidden up my sleeve if I can be allowed to brag about it ^^; ))

As @PonyPon so rightfully said it, it does not do for me or any one to tell you to halt… though it is merely my hope that I get a fair critique based on what this comic made you feel and think. Patience, of course, is a side dish that you must eat until we finish publishing but I am fairly hopeful that it will be worth the wait.

Again, I am sorry that I had caused something unnecessary here. I won’t be bothering this forum again with any unrequited hopes. I hope this comic can become something to enjoy reading for years and years to come.

Yours humbly,

Harfang.

Well, I just don’t want to start something right now, and the anon’ person who claims to of written this story seems a bit upset over the negative reaction they’re getting. I don’t want to upset them.

Well, I’m sorry, I’m sure many others like it. This image alone has 132 favorites on Deviantart, which is more then most of the things I draw there. So don’t get to discouraged with your story.

@Background Pony #84F5
I don’t know, out of respect for the writer, and artist, I feel I probably shouldn’t negatively critque it anymore, as it seems to be upsetting them… I’d hate to discourage them from their future story/art works. :(

“Too personally”? Pff, not at all. You’re the one who described your own comments as a “rant.” Indeed, I’m the one who’s been wondering why a story like this would stir the pot with anyone. It’s charming, and I happen to like the idea of Fluttershy striving for such a lofty goal. Saying RD is the only one who can do it is like saying only one person should have ever broken the 10-second mark on the hundred meter dash. Once people knew it could be done, a lot of people started hitting it.

In short, this is perfectly acceptable territory for fan fiction.

Oh, I think I did that for a really unjust comment made on “speculations” that were prior to what the last two pages had shown.
oddly enough, as well, they chose to focus on some grammar mistakes, though i am still not convinced that I had erred there.
Still, now that the “flutterboom” is finally out in the open, little to no comments had shown regarding the outcome I had desired for this little tale of mine, which is rather seriously disappointing since a few certain people had been so keen to critique-to-ridicule all the effort I had spent so far on Angelic Flutterboom and yet not one of them had shown now that the climax page is published

P.S. I had tried to make into “Background Owl” but I was not successful >_<

I do not think that #84F5 is the artist because the artist is quite well satisfied with his art and the story that I wrote.
Oh, and I appreciate your views, though it seems that we have our own tastes in tea ;D

Ironically, I actually said I felt Dashie was in-character in my critiques.

It’s not like we’re lashing-out going, “Graaarrrgh this comic suxorz my buxorz!” or anything. You’re taking it to personally.
Are you by any chance the artist? Sometimes critique can help you improve, even negative-critique. Just flat-out writing off peoples’ opinions about your’s (or others’) works, just ‘cause some aren’t “worshipping” them, isn’t a good way to go about your art, or act like they’re insulting it, just because they say anything about it.

Plus I said I like the artwork, and such, so I’m not trying to “bash” it really. It’s just the story isn’t my cup of tea.

@PonyPon
Well, what can I say, the sight of tl;dr’s tells me that somebody is getting way too serious about this, maybe several somebodies.

I can only think of two topics for this conversation, and they can be summed up so easily, watch…

Objection 1: Fluttershy can’t do that!
Answer: In this story, she’d been training for a while specifically to master it. Since a rainboom is largely based on pegasus magic, and Fluttershy potentially has hidden reserves of this magic, it is possible.
She’s also a ranking Olympian now, you know.

Objection 2: Rainbow Dash was out of character!
Answer: Not really. She’s been snarky and condescending toward Fluttershy in the past, so this is no great stretch.

See? All done. We can agree or disagree about these arguments, but again, if it drags on and on, someone is getting too worked up.

I’m not even gonna read whatever you guys wrote. I’ll just cut to the chase and say if you have a problem with this, you are wrong.

I know, like I said I’d hate to critique a comic before it’s finished, but some things about it’s “story” still bug me. I hate to sound petty, I normally don’t get so bent over fan-comics.

As I said I like the artwork though, the artist is still pretty good, so nothing against them.

Yeah, the art is good, but the story, I’m not to keen on.

Plus “Sonic Insert-booms” are more Rainbow Dash’s thing, it’d be like Dashie tring to take over taking care of her animals. If Fluttershy does pull it off easily, (which she likely will judging by the title) then she’ll kinda rob Dashie of the one thing that helped make her famous, unique, and stand out. Which could lead to Dashie going into depression mode again. Plus it would make Flutters feel overpowered, or make it feel like “Booms” are easier to pull off then the show made ‘em out to be. (Something Dashie pulled off by sheer chance as a child, and had to practice numerous times to do as a “grown-up,” to get it right. So it’s not something that any pegasas could pull off. Dashie even said the “Sonic rainboom” used to be just a “legend.”)

It seems odd Fluttershy said the main reason she wanted to be like her, >>706929 just so she wouldn’t be called the “worst flyer in Equestria” anymore.” Who calls her that still? (Childhood trauma much.) It comes off as severe self-esteem issues, or like she’s just doing it for the glory. It doesn’t seem like enough for her to risk her life over. Even with the safety butterfly net she has now, seen on the previous page… Which she didn’t have when she first attempted to do this, therefore making it a good thing that Dashie intervened in her first attempt. (Yet, Dashie is still made out to be the one in the “wrong” just for trying to protect her from herself basically.)
It’d be like trying to jump the Grand Canyon on a motorcycle, with only a few weeks worth of motorcycle experience…

Now I’m not justifying how insensitive Dashie was, which is somewhat in-character for her, but she learned to be more “patient/kinder” to Flutters as seen in the ep’ “Hurricane Fluttershy,” and in this fan-comic she only intervened, and tried to talk Flutters out of it, because she didn’t want her to get hurt/die, so it makes Fluttershy (and her animal friends) seem stubborn, as well. Especially, when her animal friends were “attacking” Dash for trying to “save her again”… >>776797

I understand the moral is trying to be something like, “Follow your dreams, try your hardest, and you can accomplish anything” but it comes off to me as, “Do something incredibly dangerous, even if your friend who is an expert on it tries to talk you out of it, because you can do anything just by trying, even without plenty of expertize!”

Sorry for the rant, I’ve been quiet about how I felt about this comic, and I mean no harm to the artist, (who is a great artist, don’t get me wrong) but as I said with all the “broken aesops,” and such in the comic, it kinda bugs me.

Though, who knows? It’s not “ended” yet, so we don’t know if she will pull it off, and such. I hate to critique a comic that isn’t finished yet.

(Darn I left out part of my sentence)
What I meant was…
(heck for awhile, even Dashie could barely pull of doing “Sonic rainbooms” early in the series, it’s not something any pony can just randomly learn to do.)

And then she died, and should’ve listened to Dashie.
Lesson kids. Don’t do something dangerous/stupid just ‘cause somebody tells you not to.

Yeah, I think that’s why I’m not to keen on this “Angelic Flutterboom” comic. Plus it kinda paints Dashie as the “bad guy” just because she doesn’t want her to do something very dangerous. (Even Fluttershy’s animal friends attacked her in a previous page to stop her from helping/stop her from her li’l personal suicide mission.)

Plus it seems a li’l “Su-ish” if Fluttershy can easily pull it off, (heck for awhile, even Dashie could barely pull of doing “Sonic rainbooms” early in the series, it’s not something) and she comes off as a bit stobborn, and like she has the “idiot ball,” or something in this comic. The aesop of “always try your best, even if it means doing something very dangerous, that not many people have been able to do” also feels like a broken-aesop.

Then again the comic isn’t over, so it might turn out differently then we predict, but the title alone seems to make the ending predictable…

One thing I will praise this “Angelic Flutterboom” comic is the art is great. But the story, and broken-aesop, and such bug the hell out of me.
