The uncut version (the theater one) makes it clearer: Luna called Trixie’ band on stage, and since the Dazzlings will go right after them, they decided to go backstage, leading them to Sunset Shimmer c:
It’s not even the same hallway. The one in the first movie was a dead end. The second one it was the entrance to the stage of the auditorium. CHS’s maintenance staff just knows when proper theme lighting is necessary for dramatic encounters.

What the hell is beyond this dark hallway!? In another shot we can see it leads to a door, right? What’s behind those doors that compel people to go through this hallway so Sunset Shimmer can come and go all alpha bitch on they asses? This is clearly her favorite spot to stand on, so what gives?
She’ll get them back and some more.
I’ll just be here for when the movie gets taken down.
