Which would be a fair argument if I actually disliked it, but I don’t. I just wasn’t interested in it, it never grabbed me. Its a thing I can watch but won’t go out of my way to see. It is a slice of plain, buttered toast, perfectly edible but nothing I particularly care to go out of my way to have nor care strongly about.

That’s not a good reason to dislike something, if I’m being honest. I’m not going to say you have to approve of it but least try to be fair to the series. Never resent a work for coming up with an idea you also had. That’ll just make you bitter.

Watched a good 2/3rds of the original series; pretty much all of book/season 1 and scattered episodes of 2 and 3. It was okay but I never particularly got into it.
 
Its partially because I still resent it because I’ve always been very big on having characters who can manipulate the classical elements through body-motion controlled telepathy, and the show goes ahead, gives it a nice pithy term like ‘bending’ and now everything else that uses it is just ripping it off. Goddamnit, Avatar, I wrote that story back in high school, just without the various ethnic and religious themes, and a five element system rather than four.

I would complain that no one’s mentioned Avatar: The Last Airbender, but really, everyone who’s watched that show is in its fandom.
