Hiroshima and Nagasaki were airburst, all the products are spread across a huge surface, raising background to a level way lower than what pilots or workers at a plant experience every day.
And cancer takes at least a few years after developing, it might just be discovered late due to symptoms of some cancer types not showing until late stages
Plus some will die with a weeks to months due to cancer and the area will be radioactive for years
Few die immediately in case of a nuclear weapon. Most die a painfullly long death from shrapnel and burns.

just for the record some of the concept art for G4 is not what we ended up with

you can see a lot of drawing for the G5 with a winged Pinkie and a terrestrial Twilight Sparkle Pony or a unicorn Fluttershy.
I hope not for a G5 but rather that they propose a story with the new M6 or another team but in the same world.
The m6 as g5 is not official, it’s just a concept.
it is the problem of the comics. it is a trap that the manga and the bandes dessiner(comics of Europe) it is for the moment avoid to trap.
MLP will not end, there’s plans for another movie coming out in 2021, which might be g5.
The G5 so reformage of the M6’s does not interest and the equestria girls are only a Magical girls with episode too short.
