Gilda didn’t appear but got griffin world building.
Gummy got a short segment in slice of life.
And many movies of humanized ponies that many bronies didn’t ask for.

Twily was our fourth alicorn
Season 5 has Gilda’s return and Derpy talks again.
That just leaves sea ponies, humans in Equestria, and Gummy episode.

Gilda not returning
Luna appearing briefly after sitting out the episode (The Crystal Empire)
THE RETURN OF TRIXIE

Things that didn’t quite happen, or didn’t happen in season 3:
Gilda returning (a lackluster appearance in The Crystal Heart Spell)
Creepy sea ponies (Under the Sparkling Sea)
Gummy in the spotlight (briefly in Pinkie Pride and Maud Pie in season 4)
Derpy making a dramatic return in season 4, and possibly talking as part of the group cheers in Equestria Games
Humans (not in season 3 and not (yet) in Equestria)
and the Flim Flam Brothers (in the comics and in season 4).
