It was a very good episode, but it came so dang late into the series, and just after the same writer regressed spike’s mentality back 5 seasons.

Molt Down? You mean Owls Well that Ends Well, where spike is lead to believe no one in ponyville will love him anymore, he ends up far from ponyville, and encounters something that is large and aggressive and targeting him specifically, and the wrap up is how everyone will still care for him, it was just a misunderstanding.

Father knows beast? You mean Dragon Quest, where the visitation of dragons leads to spike abandoning his ponyville friends, believing he’s with his “true family”, only to see that is not the case, he’s just being used and abused, and he has to join his old friends to get rid of the fake friends.

Maybe Spike spending time with Gabby isn’t so bad.

Whatever,it’s a short aka one joke stretched for 3 minutes

They mean it was originally going to be a “Rarity and Spike” but it was scrapped because it would be too “mean spirited” or Rarity would be too out of character for it, and yet they thought it was a good idea to regress Spike’s character instead.

Actually Spike was serving for Applejack in that episode, not Rarity.

Agreed. This mindset is what lead to the creation of Spike at your service as he was supposed to end up “in debt” to Rarity and they Rarity just uses him but he also has the mental screwup of not being able to do anything right and then she spends a portion of the episode trying to get rid of him. It was only stopped when someone mentioned that “Rarity wouldn’t be mean towards Spike”.
 
Spike honestly cares for Rarity and does things for her out of the goodness of his heart that he doesn’t do for anyone else. Rarity has reciprocated now and then, but it’s another “which writer is working on this” situation as to the reciprocation being honest understanding affection, or being aloof and just taking advantage of a yes man in the friendzone.

I must agree that after a while the joke wears a trifle thin.

I’ve got to say, I’m not exactly over the moon that the show keeps revisiting Spike’s crush on Rarity over and over again in the context of Rarity using it as leverage to get Spike to do stuff for her.

Does it called slavery, if he wiling to do it. He could just say no to her and she will understand.

You know, Rarity, you now have two dragons in town. Smolder might like some lessons in acting like a lady. She has something you want. You have something she wants. You can give poor Spike a break for once.

This is Spike we’re talking about do you honestly think writers know what else do with him? Kind of like the CMC who were obsessed with getting their cutie marks, Spike’s crush on Rarity is just one of the weakest portrayals of the show. Sure it was a cute crush and a funny gag for a few seasons but the show keeps teasing Sparity shippers as if it’ll go anywhere in the series, not only fans want this ship to finally conclude but also give Spike the opportunity to be free and finally develop on his own and discover himself more as a character.

And yet things like in this short happens, thats something more of season 4 or maybe 5. i would like to see something more, show me their relationship is not yet in season 1 like in party of one. In BGE episode i was burning seeing Spike singing and facing more things and more so Rarity reacting to his actions. thats what i want, not just: mane problem, be my “fan” and no problem. I dont want kisses or somerthing more than that. show me there is confidence, show me rarity cares more about him, like in gauntlet of fire.  
Still this was just a short, not part of best gift ever or season 9.

I don’t have a problem of people dislike the ship and I understand that, it’s just gets very annoying when people seeing Spike still have a crush on Rarity they start to bitch and whine about it. If the writers want Spike to get over his crush, they should have done it back in season two.

you dont have to take it too seriously, i’m a fan too, still this one was not that funny, we already had a lot of this things from several seasons, i would like to see something else for these two. not just her bigest “Fan” i was hoping something else, but the second i saw the wind from his wings i saw the joke a mile away.  
Is not that hard to make this relationship evolve and make it something more natural.

How is Rarity’s mane/tail that long?

I guess it was more subtle then. I’ve watched the entire show 3 times and never got that Sparity thing past season 3-4.
