Because it shows off how special Starlight is, particularly to the writing staff. No other characters sans Princess Twilight has managed to go to EQG but now Starlight can as well, which just pushes home unique she is.
Then there’s the fact that EQG is the black sheep to many, that the stuff in the show will get pushed into it while EQG remains constantly blocked off from the show. Starlight can appear in both the show and EQG, where as Sunset can ONLY appear in EQG.
And then that leads into the Sunset Starlight skuffle because they share similar backgrounds and functions, it is the show stating Starlight as more legitimate or the one the writers push more. So putting in Starlight basically pushes out a lot of the unique things EQG has going for it in favor of something the show already has and is a contested pary of said show.

^THIS.Having Starlight in EG again is sheer redundancy.
Preferably with Princess Twilight. I find it odd she’s basically cut out of the show for the most part. The last time we saw her it was in Equestria. There are so many things they can do with her, such as her comparing Equestria to the Human world. What are her thoughts on it’s advanced technology, for example, and what things do they have in common and where do things diverge. I’m surprised she hasn’t all ready been shown trying to study the other world and it’s contents.

Oh okay. I thought you meant someone like a main or secondary class character. It’s weird I kept picturing a EQG version of Lily Longsocks being more like Pippi Longstocking. I guess the designers didn’t think the target audience would recognize her?

Probably a dumb question but which character are you talking about? I’ve watched the trailer a bunch of times and I can’t see anyone new.
They didn’t bring sunset back as a villain. Basic reading comprehension mate.

I’m pretty sure most of the EQG audience watches it for the whole gang and not just 1/7 characters.

It specifically mentions Crystal Prep itself. Thinking it means literally everyone who goes there is just ridiculous. How did you even come to that conclusion? Characters like Fleur de Lis appears in the background all the time. If it was talking about Sunny, Sugarcoat, etc… it probably would have said Shadowbolts.
Speaking of, one of the bingos should have been civilian attire for the Shadowbolts. They have so far only appeared in school uniform, sports wear and dance outfits.

I think it means the school itself, rather than just a few characters who just so happen to be there. The last time we saw Crystal Prep Academy was in Dance Magic, and only briefly.
it would be nice to at least learn what happened to them. There are also a lot of interesting possibilities regarding them, particularly their past and why they had those red pendants in the first place, surely they were not born with pendants, and why did the pendants allow them to sing well?
The dazzlings without magic to control to the people, must had a job to survivor.

They can use Adagio whenever they want because her voice actress is Rarity’s singing voice. Not sure about Sonata and Aria though, it might just be a matter of having to pay for the other two voice overs as to why they have not re-appeared yet.
Also, I hope the Government Agency and Human Shimmer things happen. I’ve been planning a fan-fiction with those two things for a couple of years now. Make it happen Hasbro.
