My first thought was also that it was generation 1 because of the odd programming but apparently after doing some searches it was generations 3 & 4
Somebody doesn’t get the joke.
That is only Gen 1 since Gen 1 programming has always been weird. Master Ball bypasses all formulas and is automatically a catch, or what’s the point of using the rarest Pokeball right? Also it never states anywhere Pokeball can catch anything other than Pokemon. I mean I believe catching humans with small balls is illegal.

It’s a master ball. It catches anything even if it’s not a pokemon. Also it has a 1 in 65536 chance of failing.
