Fair enough. It’s just kinda odd sometimes to see hair on creatures usually depicted as fully scaly. It’s jarring most of the time to me but there’s some designs I think where it looks well.

Great art but the Crimson Clown was more of a ‘vigilante thief’, stealing from those who had more money than they deserved and giving half his take to charity. The other half he kept.
 
So unless you’re opposed to being robbed by someone who decides all on their lonesome that you have ‘too much’, he’s not very evil.

I thought that Pagliacci was supposed to be the “Sad Clown”, not the “Monster Clown”?
 
Pagliacci and the whole “Sad Clown” thing based around him refers to when someone who is incredibly funny or likes to joke/goof around a lot is actually very sad/depressed most of the time.
 
There have been monster clowns that look similar to Paliacci, but I don’t think that the OG Pagliacci was a monster/evil clown, he was more depressed then evil.

I never claimed it was new. I’m aware the killer clown trope was around longer than that (like the ones in the opera play, Pagliacci). It’s just The Joker (along with Batman) have been a huge part of pop culture in the recent decades so when most people think of evil clown, they think of him.

I can see why he’s an exception. Outside of being cute, Falkor is based on an Eastern Dragon and they’re portrayed having hair (or even feathers) a bit more often compared to the more reptilian/scary/monsterous Western Dragons.
