May as well just filter any other ship with Starlight based on this BPs comments on other pictures.
You should definitely do so away from Startrix’s images. I would recommend using the filter so you won’t have to see these images.
You’re new to shipping, aren’t you?
Oh, I’m not disagreeing with those things. In fact, that’s how they get away with justifying the tag in the first place. The characters do indeed have some similiarities to Twilight. Generally with magic, above and beyond simply being unicorns. Moondancer is even a recolor of Twilight.
The issue isn’t that the tag has a valid use. It is that the tag and its valid uses are a mask for why it exists at all, and why people created it. The valid uses mask that those behind it hate “Twilight clones” and rather than enjoying cute ponies, want to emphasize that they’re similar to Twilight, therefore bad. The tag isn’t there to highlight how each one is a unique and interesting character. I mean, they have their own character tags for that reason.
That’s a good point.
I always thought the term was about ponies with similarities to Twilight and at least one major difference (at least in their conception).
*shrug*
I wouldn’t be opposed to having counterpart tags for the other Mane 6 too.
…I guess this image was re-uploaded/merged. Sorry for pinging on a 6-month old comment.
[twilight’s counterparts] refers to characters that the mostly butthurt portion of the fandom can’t agree to like, dislike, or ignore. Namely Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer, but also includes Trixie, Moondancer, and occasionally other unicorns like Minuette, Lyra, Lemon Hearts, and Twinkleshine.
It is mostly because these people simply can’t get over the idea that characters can share similar interests or design aspects. They emphasize how these unicorns are “counterparts of Twilight” without really doing the same for “counterparts” of characters like Rainbow Dash (Spitfire, Fleetfoot, Lightning Dust, etc.), Rarity (Coco Pommel, Sassy Saddles, Suri Polomare, Prim Hemline, etc.), or Applejack (long list of Appe Ponies, Braeburn being decently popular among them).
I’m sure there are people who simply think it’s a relevant/useful tag, but don’t actually understand how it’s an artifact of old butthurt drama.
I didn’t toss it on myself, but it looks like it just refers to characters like Sunset, GlimGlam, etc.
