Actually I like the idea that he doesn’t know he’s a father. But I wouldn’t be suprised, if he do and he’s just not in love with her mother. There is not always this happy ending for parents, specially if there are major differences. The life of a show pony is quite hard and you’re always far away from home. Maybe it just didn’t worked between them.
 
To grown up with two seperated parents would explain some of the “issues” of Trixies personality. Issues I like nonetheless a lot. :-)

You don’t think Trixie’s Mother used to be a showmare or magician’s assistant to Jack Pot? Perhaps when Jack Pot was still a young amateur magician.
