@Meh brony
you mean her soul self which is vulnerable to magic which is why whenever shes captured to ressurect trigon she doesnt use it to escape because usualyl the ones trying to revive trigon are mages including felix faust or brother blood or others?

You do realize that even if raven is somehow incapacitated she can still use her soul self right? In fact the only way to prevent her from using her soul self is to outright kill her and that whole cover the mouth thing usually only happens in the animated universes, in some the comics verses it’s a whole different story and blame DC for making so many of their characters inexplicably op in fact someone I met once referred to the anomaly of a character gaining a huge boost in power without any logical explaination (as logical as you can get in a fictional universe at least.) the DC effect.
@Meh brony
Dr Fate is a Flying Brick. The Fact that he uses some magic and MAgic is the source of his Flying Brickery does not change this fact. This is the biggest issue i have with DC Magic users. Theyre not Really Magic Users, rather MAgic enhanced flying bricks. This is True of Fate, the Marvel Family (shazam..), Wonder Woman, even Jason Blood turning into Etrigan. You can point to how magic is used to make their powers all you want theyre still flying bricks, albiet ones with a few spells here and there. As such itd make no sense to pit them against pure wizards like twilight sparkle, raven, or the wizards over at marvel. The only PURE MAGE magic users at DC only seem to be Zatanna Zatarra, John Constantine, Raven, and maybe Doctor Occult. MAYBE Spectre as well but hes more of a reality warper than anything else.

People are forgetting here that DC Magic users are Basically complete garbage, that and injustice raven in the comics was subdued by John Constantine, a self professed petty dabbler.

Dr fate would like to have a word with you and by that same petty logic mlp magic users are pathetic since a small amount of goo on their horns is all that’s required to make them powerless.

Twilight probably wouldn’t have time to build anything–much less an apparatus like that–during a fight, but, as we’ve seen, she is clearly capable of thinking along those lines.
For sure. We’ve even seen Princess Twilight combine technology and magic before. It was how she fixed the dimensional portal.

@cloudkicker108
Moreover, if Sci-Twi can figure out how to construct a device to absorb magic with nothing but sheer brain power, then Princess Twilight almost certainly must know a spell that can do something similar.
She’d definitely be more likely to use spells, and I’d be very surprised if there wasn’t one for that exact purpose somewhere.

Even going by what we do know for certain about her, Twilight will definitely be able to put up a good fight at the very least. She’s not going to go down that easily.

A device she built all by herself. Now granted, Twilight probably wouldn’t have time to build anything–much less an apparatus like that–during a fight, but, as we’ve seen, she is clearly capable of thinking along those lines. I hope you don’t mind I quoted one of your comments. You summed up my thoughts about this so much better than I ever could.
I don’t mind at all. Feel free to use it whenever you want.

She couldn’t do that forcefully. the magic was given to her and she isn’t allowed any outside help.
I would argue that we’ve never seen her do it forcefully, not that she can’t do it at all. After all, her counterpart in the human world managed to capture and contain Equestrian magic without it being offered and almost entirely by accident.

And she later absorbed and used the magic that had been taken.

Opinions on the other series aside, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that alicorn Twilight could, if very desperate, absorb other sources of magic to boost her own powers.

And Raven would definitely be a source of magic.

Somehow I managed to miss the part where you distinguished Twilight’s capabilities against Raven from Teen Titans and Raven from a composite of other sources. Sorry about that. I do agree with your breakdown of the two scenarios.

I wouldn’t write Twilight off that quickly. To quote a BP:

As much as I see people saying Raven is the sure victor, I really feel they’re a lot more evenly matched then people are giving her credit for. I mean, we don’t even know which incarnation of Raven they’re going to use. The most recent (New 52) version differs from her original incarnation, and also from her (more well known) animated version as well. We can’t even be sure what powers she’ll be bringing in, since some of them have only ever appeared once, a fair number of them only become accessible if she’s gone evil or her father, Trigon, is influencing her, and a few are not even within her conscious control.
But even taking some of her most common powers and abilities, Twilight is far from outmatched. Raven’s Soul-Self/Darkness Manipulation skill is powerful, but can be disrupted by magic (which Twilight has in abundance). Raven also has teleport abilities (which Twilight also has), the ability to use travel time with chronokinesis (again, Twilight has done it), magic (not even a question), levitation and flight (Twilight has levitated at least once before, and frankly her wings alleviate any need for doing that), telekinesis (Twilight can of course manipulate objects magically), and astral projection (something Twilight has some experience with, if her times viewing Celestia’s past in ghost form is any indication). And let’s not forget Twilight has used force fields, magic beam attacks, dark magic (at least once), transformation spells, gravity spells, and once burst into flame.
So yeah… I’m not saying Twilight will win, but she really ought to be able to put up a good fight.

And let’s not forget that one time Raven was rendered completely powerless because her mouth was taped shut.

Yeah, but who actually watches death battle for the outcomes? I just want to enjoy the character powerset breakdowns and fight animation.
I watch the outcomes, but I do very much enjoy listening to them break down the characters backstory and abilities too.

@Diaz
Because we can immediately tell Raven is going to slaughter Twilight, it ends up taking out the anticipation and excitement.
I disagree. I fully believe the two of them are a lot more evenly matched then people seem to think.
I sometimes wish Twilight had better combat feats and ability.

As it is, she has little chance against composite Raven given how subpar Twilight’s fight showings.

IF she could use her abilities to their fullest, she has a good chance against Teen Titans Raven even at her own fullest.
@Wesley Foxx
The best fights are the ones where the two fighters are evenly matched like Thor VS Wonder Woman. Because we can immediately tell Raven is going to slaughter Twilight, it ends up taking out the anticipation and excitement. As someone who hasn’t seen Batman VS Black Panther yet, I’m excited for it because the two seem evenly matched. There’s no way to immediately be sure who will win because of it.
IF this real

Twilight does not need to speak magic spells (time bonus)
Raven has more attack focused spells (power bonus)
Raven got more experience in Solo fights (experince bonus)
Twilight is versatile (adjustment bonus)

Is Raven allowed to use her father(sealed in her)? (Hidden Group bonus)

Yeah Raven gonna win as long as Twilight does not pull a Silence Spell.
