If Changelings could shapeshit into anything even remotely as big as a dragon, they would’ve done so on the many times they needed to fight. Like against the Mane6 in Canterlot Wedding or against that giant mole thing that was kicking their asses. From what we’ve seen so far they seem to be limited to stuff barely bigger than themselves. Imo even Thorax’s bear transformation was only because he’s the king now.
She must’ve been taking “MLP Movie Lessons” with Twilight and the Royal Sisters, regarding “how to forget you can teleport”.
But in all seriousness, that was really jarring, lol.
Not to mention Spike can shapeshift into his original body due to now being a changeling, or into anything he wants.
Damn Chrysalis, you fucked up really hard.
On the other hand, Spike would definitely be able to power up over time on the love of others, and considering how he lives with two magically gifted ponies to help him get the hang of magic, he’d be pretty dangerous himself, considering. Chrysalis would probably end up needing a magical artifact or three to even the odds.

But yeah, having wings does power-up Spike somehow, so letting Chrysalis go could end up being a problem.

Given that Spike has wings now, being stuck in that kind of body would probably be an improvement for her in some ways actually, since she doesn’t need a lot of love to boost her power then. Now granted, dragons get more powerful as they get older (which takes time), and she loses the ability to channel magic through a horn.
