Not really, but either way it doesn’t matter now.  
Starlight doesn’t need to be a princess, it is not necessary and wont make her any better just like it didn’t really make twilight any better. Only Celestia and Luna have their identities tied to their royal status, tacking one onto characters is just lazy and pointless.
 
What they should be doing is writing interesting stories based on what the characters already are, their identities are already established, there is no need to overhaul them since they’ve barely been expanded in the first place. Is it really that hard to write a story about a unicorn in a magical land full of mystical creatures? I sincerely doubt it will be any easier to write a story about a unicorn just because it has wings now, either way we are going to get a shit story since people seem content with the idea that stapling wings on a pony is all it takes to make a good story.

I don’t get the princess hype. At this point being a princess isn’t really…that much of a big deal anymore. It’s actually even more impressive if a regular pony can somehow keep up or even take down princesses–like Tempest did.

I rest easy at night knowing the show staff confirmed she will never become a princess. thanks based DHX
