Perhaps the most famous example being The Dragon Break AKA The Warp in the West where Bethesda needed to allow for all the endings of Daggerfall to have occurred at the same time.
 
Years ago the retcon of Cyrodiil pissed me off because the kind of Roman empire meeting the Chinese empire in the jungle theme described in The Pocket Guide to the Empire sounded cooler than what we got. Thinking back, Oblivion was a sucky game overall. It’s like Bethesda had a meeting after Morrowind and said “Morrowind was too unique and gave players too many options. Our next game needs to be something generic and dumbed down to blend in with other fantasy games.” But I’m over it now.

@kleptomage The Elder Scrolls series has always had a bit of trouble reconciling its own continuity, really. Just look at all the variations of the Night Mother and the accessibility of Daedra to Tamriel. That’s probably why they blow up so many regions, to keep people from asking too many questions on continuity by rearranging it.

When I stopped and listened to the street preacher’s dialouge I was surprised to hear this:
 
“LET ME SHOW YOU THE POWER OF TALOS STORMCROWN, BORN OF THE NORTH WHERE MY BREATH IS LONG WINTER! I BREATHE NOW, IN ROYALTY, AND RESHAPE THIS LAND THAT IS MINE! I DO THIS FOR YOU, MY RED LEGIONS, FOR I LOVE YOU!”
 
If you don’t know, that is an excerpt from From the Many Headed Talos AKA the divine retcon of Cyrodiil which explained why Cyrodiil is a generic medieval setting and not the land described in The Pocket Guide to the Empire which you can read here http://www.imperial-library.info/content/pocket-guide-empire-first-edition-cyrodiil

@Stricken I like how Nazeem acts like he’s so very high and mighty when, at any point, the Dragonborn could be Thane, leader of the Companions, and the person who singlehandedly curbstomped the invading Stormcloak hoards. XD

When you become thane of a hold, you get a one-time use dialogue option when confronted over your bounty in that hold. Kill him, then use it. It’s pretty much THE most justified use of the option in the entire game, and most players probably never use that option anyway.

@igotnopicks Nah, man, that gives you a bounty, and no matter what alignment you have getting a bounty in Whiterun is a pain in the ass. XD

Hit him in the back with an arrow and watch his body fly.

Just walk up to him and kill him.
