In the end, it didn’t hurt the episode, but it’s just that one of the (few) defining traits about Spike is how enamored with Rarity he is, and regardless if you ship sparity or not, you’d think he’d have something to say in regards to either look.

I realize Spike haven’t been on much episodes in this season at all (season seven), he only have six major appearances so far. Fluttershy is second to Spike because she haven’t appeared in much episodes either.

My one gripe is that we never got to see Spike’s reaction to either her bad mane or her new look. His only part anywhere was removing some of the hairsplosion in a wheelbarrow.
