Damn adolescence.
If you’re wondering about the text colors, I was trying to use the colors of 2011 and 2017. Yes, that’s a thing.

And for me it kinda ruined the whole Rumbloo dynamic because for me it was an innocent shy guy shipped with a tomboy.
True, he might’ve been a li’l turd before for all we know.
Edited because: Fixing typo
You can’t really say he “became” anything when we barely knew anything about him before.
Yeah, me too. I mean god damn writers, how long we have to wait for that.
They’re still gonna have those eyes even as grown-ups, and it is going to freak everypony out.
I just want the goddamn cake twins to at least grow up enough to stop having the soul-less baby eyes and upgrade to the AJ birth certificate/flurry heart eye model. They’re old enough to not wear diapers anymore.
Well the thing why I don’t see MLP in that way is because, we clearly see that a lot of future episode have some reference in the past episode and continuity, like. Twilight Kingdom, where she questioning if her princess duty have been fulfill. How Starlight in Cutie Re-map based her revenge on what happened in Cutie Map, so and on.
Althought never watched Simpson and South park more than a full season. But if we take another example of cartoon like PPG and SpongeBob, they have no or little of reference to past episode, and the season in the show barely change with each episode. It’s like the opposite of MLP FiM.
@Keith Mowz
Sometimes, I just wish that Hasbro just stated their age or the time that have been passed in the each season like in Adventure time, where Pendleton Ward stated that Finn is 12 years old in first season while in 4-5 he is 15. Yes the reason is because Finn’s voice actor have experience voice change.

I think the best way to look at it is that MLP has a floating timeline, like The Simpsons or South Park. The present never moves forward to become the future; the past just continues to extend backward to account for previous events.

“he was only 5 or 6 in the first season”
What? I never said that. Let me take you back to what said. “Also have you notice that Sweetie Belle voice is different in season 4 compare to season 1? She obviously isn’t 8, she is at least 11-12 because that’s the age when we experience voice change.” I might not writing in the best way. But what I mean is that Sweetie Belle age is 11/12 in season 4. So by my headcanon the time span from season 1-4 is 3 years. She is 8-9 age at first season.
Well then take Adventure Time, Finn is 12 in season one stated by Pendleton Ward, while in season 4-5 he is 15 and it’s also stated by Pendleton Ward and it’s because the voice actor have experience voice change.
Honestly after season 5, I have been puzzled with my own headcanon. especially after the teenage body type in The Saddle Row. Before that I assumed Filly/Colt body are have age from child to mid teen or half of the late teen, but after that episode I forced change my headcanon to fit that Filly/Colt body type only for child to early teen, while that new body type is for mid and late teen. But then Sweetie Belle is by my headcanon is 14-15 years old in season 7 which almost mid teen. And at this rate I can say that pony age slower or at least have longer childhood or teen, but I need to a evidence in the show for that too.
But still at least with my own interpretation It still hold a merit to me. Yes it’s a cartoon and you can say anything possible. But there is no fun in with that. and one thing that certain is that I love fun.

Her voice is different obviously, because her voice actress hit puberty, and is no longer a li’l kid now. (But still strains to sound younger when voicing her.) Her character is almost the exact same regardless, as kid cartoon characters either hardly age, or don’t age at all. The only sign of aging we’ve seen is her cutie-mark. I haven’t noticed any signs that they look 11 or 12. Which would mean, going by your headcanon she was only 5 or 6 in the first season, but the episode “For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils” showed she looked very very different at that age in the flashback.
Take “Hey Arnold” for example, the characters stayed the same, even after their child voice actors got older, and their voices sounded a li’l different. So it’s not a good example, as voice changes don’t mean anything in cartoons. Like when a villain’s voice suddenly changes into Jim Cummings when he starts singing. (Lion King/Anastasia reference.) I must add I like his singing. Hehe

“Plus the CMC themselves only aged like 2 years sense the show began. If they aged 6”
That’s your headcannon, Also have you notice that Sweetie Belle voice is different in season 4 compare to season 1? She obviously isn’t 8, she is at least 11-12 because that’s the age when we experience voice change. Also looks that’s my headcanon, and I don’t see how it only 2-3 years from season 1-6 and see how the obvious season change through out episode like that. unlike any other cartoon, All of the episode or at least the majority of the episodes of MLP FiM have a chronological order

Cartoons aren’t always chronilogical. Plus the CMC themselves only aged like 2 years sense the show began. If they aged 6, they’d be teenagers, and they don’t look like the teenage ponies we’ve seen yet.
“But there’s no way it’s been six years in the show. Maybe three years at best.”
Well
S01E01 Friendship Is Magic = Summer
S01E11 - Winter Wrap Up = Winter
S01E13 - Fall Weather Friends = Fall (1 year)
S01E14 - Suited for Success = Spring/Summer (2 years)
S02E11 - Hearth’s Warming Eve = Winter
S04E01 - Princess Twilight Sparkle = Summer (3 years)
S05E05 - Tanks for the Memories Winter = Winter
S05E06 - Appleoosa’s Most Wanted = Spring/Summer (4 Years)
S05E20 - Hearthbreakers = Winter
S05E21 - Scare Master = Spring/Summer (5 years, although it could Fall too because well Halloween)
S06E08 - A Hearth’s Warming = Winter
S06E09 - The Saddle Row = Spring/Summer (6 years)
So yeah, judging how much season passed, It’s actually already been 6 years from the first episode from the show (even 7 years if S05E21 - Scare Master is a happened in fall instead of spring or summer). I think writers meant each season as one year part. But they noticed that in season 1 especially eps Winter Wrap Up and Fall Weather Friends, it’s 2 year span. SO no winter in season 3, although in 4 there is also no winter. So they make 2 winter episodes in the season 5.

Cats and dogs age fast. At 10 months one of my cats hit cat puberty and she got pregnant, her daughters entered in heat almost the same way, good thing we neutered them before having a second generation to put in adoption. That dog is probably just a year old. They age really fast.
Three years is enough time to go from the middle of childhood to the cusp of adolescence, so I’d say his change is not only possible but unexceptional.
@SeraphimDawn
Ripley’s gone from puppy to adult in ~2 (in-show) years, which seems reasonable to me. As for Winona, her last appearance was “P.P.O.V. (Pony Point of View)”, though Applejack mentioned her as recently as “Fluttershy Leans In”.
Are you a wizard.
