Nah, Luna needed to forgive herself in that episode. Getting forgiven by Tia was almost a given.
Luna also needed to be forgiven by a group that wasn’t affected by her other than a slight inconvenience instead of her sister, who had to live with banishing her sister for 1,000 years for feeling unloved and trying to killer her. I don’t put any stock in that episode, as you might have guessed.
Eh, as much as I like the Nightmare Rarity story from the comics, there’s never been anything in the show to back up the ‘Luna got possessed’ version. In fact, the Tantabus ep makes it lean rather towards the ‘it was all Luna’ side of things.
That was more of NMM’s thing, which is either her high off of power or a new entity, so I’m not sure if it counts.
Well, this is coming from the pony who mixed up ‘want the love of her subjects’ with ‘ETERNAL NIGHT FOR ALL!’

True, but this gives a new meaning to Luna just wanting “to be loved by everypony.”
She wanted to be loved by her friends. To be valued. For her friends to want to be around her. Luna wasn’t entirely off the mark.

Not that hard to believe. Luna can manipulate dreams, meaning she’s basically screwing with pony’s minds on a subconscious level.
