My theroy is that there is only a thin veneer of gold coins and the rest is stuffed with quartz crystals, kind of like the springs under a pillow top. That or trade with Equestria has severely devalued gold and gems, since they seem to be pretty gold/gem rich. Or maybe both?
Still doesn’t change the fact the sword’s value can change. It could be as anything else in any collection, or a priceless piece with a coveted history, or anything made in any workshop in the passed couple years.
The value of the gems too could change based on their quality.
These two are in human land, so it’s not bits per pound as much as it is US dollarinos or Canadian pesos. Probably.
Well it looks like it could also be made of things not gold too. See: the sword. Albeit, you could also resell the sword at a price higher than it’s bits per pound.

That mountain looks like much more than that, so I recommend to buy it.
