Reading this, I couldn’t quite shake the feeling that trying to prevent the ancient evil from rising again was mostly a front to cover up the fact that Shadow Lock was doing this chiefly so that he wouldn’t have to deal with his own shame complex.

Go back far enough, and ancestry doesn’t really matter as much as people think it does. And even then, having a being of unspeakable evil in you ancestry is hardly the end of the world _(usually)! I mean, look at Merlin – his father was a literal demon, and he hardly went about sobbing about being the spawn of evil.

None of them are Vancouverites, so they’re out the window. If you really wanted a Steve Blum-type voice, you’re better off going with Brian Drummond since he’s the closest thing and much more versatile anyway.

Since Shadowlock seems more the young, confused and impulsive type, probably go with Mat Lucas or Todd Haberkorn.

I’m leaning towards King Sombra being the descendant. I can’t think of any other villain in the show who was outright referred to as a monster besides the former Crystal King. Plus, look at Shadowlock’s appearance. It would make perfect sense.

Luna was once Nightmare Moon, Rarity was Nightmare Rarity for a time, Fluttershy has a reformed Discord rooming with her, Thorax was once a drone for Queen Chrysalis, Radiant Hope managed to free Sombra just by defying fate, and Starlight’s under reform. So yeah, it’s kind of a thing with us.
