Short project done this weekend. Felt like drawing something silly. Very silly, and a bit meta I suppose, because it’s always funny when peopletry to prove how one fictional character is stronger than another fictional character.
Tell that to the writers who make her magic be as strong as hers… Or worse, Far stronger than the ELEMENTS OF FRIGGIN HARMONY!!!

Well, I think it was established Alicorns have enhaced power, like stronger magic. Besides, Dash superspeed is one of her biggest character traits, so her being faster than an alicorn shows she was born gifted because it was established beforehand. When you suddenly introduce a new character with a weak backstory and immediatelly make her stronger than an Alicorn, you raise a lot of flags. More if the writing seems to favor you over other characters.

I’m not saying whether the argument’s right or not, I’m just saying I’m pretty sure that’s the reasoning of the people who complain about it.

Once again it’s that it came out of nowhere with no build up other than to make the plot work. Having them Tell us Starlight is super good at magic doesn’t work because we’ve been Shown what Twilight been through.
Maybe, but it’s Batman so it doesn’t matter. :P

Well they both trained in magic for most of their lives, but we don’t really have a clue as to how old either of them are so right now it’s impossible to say who’s been studying longer. Also there’s no real way of telling who studied harder/more intensely. Celestia taught Twilight more than just pure magic after all.
As for Twilight’s alicorn status I just don’t think that’s a good reason. If just suddenly becoming an Alicorn made Twilight in-comparable to everyone else then she’d also be leaps ahead of Rainbow when it comes to flying, even with RD’s years of experience. But that isn’t the case.

Because it’s out of nowhere plot convince. We’ve seen how hard Twilight’s had to work for her skill and how rare it is. Then all of a sudden you have it Unicorn come up and out Duel and outwit a hard training alicorn with the throw away excuse of “she’s just that powerful” it’s not good storytelling
Well, dash is also probably considered one of the fastest pegasi alive, whereas Twi has only had her wings for a short time. Dash should 100% be a faster flier.
The biggest issue comes from 1) Twilight’s an alicorn, and 2) Twilight’s special talent is magic who spent years studying magic under Princess Celestia. The question is why should Starlight Glimmer, a pony who assumably had no formal magic training like Twilight and also is only a unicorn, not only have the magic strength to rival twilight but also be able to do just about any spell she can

Personally, my only real problem with the alignment switch is that it happened too abruptly.
Pre-reformation & post-reformation Starlight Glimmer almost feel like completely different characters.
In that there’s no intermediary stage(s) to link Pre-reformation Glimmer to Post-reformation Starlight.

Yeah, but Twilight didn’t start out with wings & got them relatively recently while Twilight has always been a unicorn & a powerful one since the show’s start.
That’s why people aren’t upset about Rainbow being better at flying than Twilight. Rainbow has practiced flight almost all her life while Twilight is new to flying.
People are complaining about Starlight Glimmer’s apparent power level in comparison to Twilight Sparkle’s apparent power level because Starlight is a very magical unicorn while Twilight was also a very magical unicorn but one that seems to have also gotten a further power boost in addition to that.
They’re both very experienced, but people think the whole alicorn thing should give Twilight more of an advantage over Starlight than it seems to have.
That’s why people complain about one but not the other, I think.
Because she’s a new character, and people still don’t like her backstory. I like her a lot, but there are folks who just can’t stand her.
Yes, an Owlman, other then using “Owl” and not “Bat” he IS the evil version of him from another universe.
Some change to his backstory but he is just as smart and rich.
It really did come down to how differently to two think being the reasons the main Bats won.
