The price hasn’t been announced for the United States. A price range has been mentioned for Japan and people are converting that to US dollars but it wouldn’t be the first that Nintendo has charged more for something outside of Japan.
I heard the online fee is less than either Sony’s or Microsoft’s price. The only people unable to afford Nintendo’s online service at the end of the year are anyone who cannot afford a Switch and the children of parents too stupid to count. :3

Nintendo can afford it.
He might not be referring to the paid service but that you need a smart phone app to use both chat and matchmaking (which are not built into the Nintendo Switch).
Keeping an online server up isn’t cheap, ya know?
