I honestly feel bad about Timber more than I do Flash now. Flash at least got characterized into adorably unlucky dude. And he’s managed to get some character depth beyond just “I’m generically handsome!” I like that.

I’m worried that if this sub-franchise continues he’s just going to inevitably get shoved into a romantic relationship with Sunset now after that one failed attempt at reconcilitation, but that is more from my too many years of watching anime.

Timber, though? Either going to disappear completely, or just be infuriating by his existence. It’s like they literally just can’t go without a poorly shoe-horned-in romantic subplot because kids movie amirite. But even in this case, even when this guy is actually essential to the plot and stuff, the movie has so little time spent on him beyond him flirting with Twilight or being relevant to moving the plot forward. Because he isn’t the focus of the movie. But hey, just because we made the central focus of the entire film be about these two specific characters and their relationship to one another and how they’re dealing with very similar issues in their lives and all that jazz, doesn’t mean the movie can’t just veer off into Generic Love Interest Land.

It happened all the way up until the end of the movie and then they kinda had to suddenly have a not-kiss to remind us that love only exists between a girl and a kinda dorky guy who is trying too damn hard to be cool.

Seriously Timber, I don’t hate you nearly as much as I feel like I should, but you come off way too Tryhard.
