I believe Ogres & Oubliettes was already mentioned in the comics so they just decided to carry over continuity.
I would have liked the episode more if they spent about as much of the episode discord-LARPing as they spent in the comic in Power Ponies, but it would have required the focus of the moral to shift.
They should bring back O&O in a future episode. I know Shining Armor is a fan of it in his teenage years according to the comics, and I’m sure some sort of friendship lesson can be wrangled out of an entire D&D session played out like this.

Just part of his costume. Dude works on a farm, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he put some effort into some gritty, realistic detail. “Got some bruises an’ scratches a while back gettin’ th’plow fixed. Stands t’ reason a warrior fella’d get a few more nicks than a farmer would.”

I highly doubt they had any guarantee one episode would be finished before the other. “A Changeling” was released right before this one. Who knows where they were in relation to each other in production order?

I’ve seen some efforts over at Paizo.com to make games and modules suited for kids, as the other material is definitely on the mature (for a given definition of ‘mature’, anyway) side.
Something tells me Crystal Hoof ain’t the best roleplayer.
